We are seeking a year-round full-time Educational Liaison to support OCALI’s Multi-System Navigation Center (MSNC). The Multi-System Navigation Center works to help individuals and families navigate multiple partners, resources, agencies, and opportunities in getting the resources and tools needed. The role of the Educational Liaison is to offer facilitation and resources to identified school districts and residential facilities that serve youth (8-21) with MI/IDD and Behavioral Health needs. The Educational Liaison enhances understanding and knowledge about the services, transition process between school districts, and educational needs of the youth served in the residential facilities.
 
Responsibilities
  • Provide resources to assist educational teams to educate youth with MI/IDD and Behavioral Health needs residing in residential facilities
  • Facilitate professional development and provide technical assistance to educators and other school team members.
  • Assist MSNC team to develop training and professional development materials and resources.
  • Provide residential staff with resources and information related to implementing supports and interventions in the residential facility.
  • Meet virtually and in-person with youth teams.
  • Maintain a detailed calendar of daily activity.
  • Maintain and organize project documentation ensuring all activity is recorded accurately.
  • Attend weekly virtual and in-person meetings with MSNC members.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in needed content areas.
 
Qualifications and Skills
  • Intervention Specialist, Special Education Supervisor/Coordinator, School-based Occupational Therapist, School-based Speech and Language Therapist, or other professional with experience serving youth with Dual Diagnosis (MI/IDD) and Behavioral Health needs. Minimum of 5 years experience
  • Deep knowledge of Ohio’s education system and services for youth on IEPs.
  • Self-motivation and initiative, strong independent work ethic. 
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proven ability to perform job responsibilities independently, with a high degree of accuracy. 
  • Familiar with residential facilities serving youth with Behavioral Health needs.
  • Knowledge of evidenced-based/effective strategies and interventions to support the educational programming of youth with IDD/MI and Behavioral Health needs in the classroom addressing:
    • resilience and trauma
    • sensory regulation
    • effective communication – speaking and non-speaking
    • social understanding
    • environmental accommodations
  • Experience developing and facilitating training and professional development.
  • Experience and proficiency with applications and online environments including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams/Zoom, and SharePoint.
  • Excellent communication skills – Oral and Written.
  • Skilled in relationship building across multi-agency and school teams. Ability and desire to work in a team environment and with diverse groups of people.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience supporting youth with IDD/MI and Behavioral Health needs
  • Available June 2024.
  • Candidates must be able to travel weekly to Franklin, Montgomery, and Greene Counties
  • Reports to MSNC Program Director.

Salary: Salary commensurate with experience.
