The ideal candidate for our Staff Accountant will act as a point person to analyze and verify financial records and transactions. They must demonstrate a keen attention to detail, job costing and reconciliation experience. Working together with the Controller this position is responsible for tracking financial components of projects such as budgets, estimates, costs and billings, ensuring that all responsibilities and processes in support of the assigned projects are timely, accurate and efficiently completed. 

Essential Duties:

• Ensure accurate recording and reporting of project-related financial data
• Record and maintain general and job cost journal entries accurately.
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure job cost accuracy.
• Set up and maintain job and contract information.
• Revenue recognition and Work-In-Progress (WIP) transactions, including coordinating production results with the Operations Team to ensure accurate and timely information.
• Evaluate ongoing contracts to determine performance versus expectations, alert management to adverse trends.
• Handling processing, documentation, and reconciliation of all cash transactions.
• Enter and reconcile all payroll processing plus act as backup support.
• Reconcile employee benefits accounts addressing benefits discrepancies with HR as needed.
• Drafts financial statements by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other as-hoc statements for monthly review.
• Yearly preparation of various reports to support income tax returns and audited financial statement.
• Develop reports to present information to management in a timely, meaningful way.

• Perform other office functions as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Work experience in the construction industry as a Staff Accountant for three or more years preferred.
• Knowledge of construction accounting and WIP reporting
• Ability to work well with others, meet deadlines and adapt to changes in priorities.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Sage Accounting, Procore preferred.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and assist the Controller with weekly, monthly and year-end duties.
• Understanding and demonstration of GAAP.
• Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or commensurate experience.
