WHAT YOU WILL DO

UES, Inc. (a BlueHalo company) has an opportunity available for a Research Scientist to join our collaborative multidisciplinary team at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The research will involve the testing of polymer and ceramic matrix composites at both room temperature and elevated temperatures.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is desired:

• High temperature mechanical testing
• Design of novel mechanical tests
• Hands on experience performing tensile, compression and/or shear tests
• Statistical methods.
• Working knowledge of mechanical modeling

Strong communication skills and problem-solving skills are highly desirable. We are particularly interested in a highly motivated, adaptable, and capable individual with a Ph.D. or Masters in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL BRING

• Ph.D. (or to be completed in next 6 mos.) or a Masters combined with significant experience in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field
• Expertise in performing mechanical tests
• Expertise in evaluating mechanical tests
• Ability to learn and develop new approaches
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• This position will require a self-motivated individual with good interpersonal skills and careful attention to details
• Adaptable to varying program objectives
• This position is working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship
