Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. has a contingent job opportunity for a full-time Main Propulsion and Auxiliary Equipment Diesel Engine Inspector (DEI) Technician Level VI in Norfolk, VA.


Summary:
The Main Propulsion and Auxiliary Equipment Technician (DEI) Technician Level VI will support to Mid Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) Code 260.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for various assessments, inspections, and technical assistance as tasked via separate correspondence.

  • Provide technical assistance, assessment, inspections, corrective actions, and groom support as tasked for Division 200 cognizant shipboard equipment.

  • Some of the equipment/services to be supported include Diesel engine inspections/repair, MPDE, SSDG, Emergency diesel generators (EDG) associated support systems to include engine lube oil, fuel oil, sea water, engine jacket water, engine control systems (electronic/pneumatic), Vibration, Performance and Failure Analysis.

  • Conduct cold/hot checks to determine equipment condition and identify parameters that are out of specification. Observe operation of the equipment by ship’s force to witness the full range of performance where possible.

  • Utilize appropriate measuring equipment to obtain data for evaluation.

  • Evaluate findings of the cold and operational checks and make adjustments and repairs to the maximum extent possible during the time available.

  • Provide written visit debrief/reports to the SME upon completion of each ship visit.

  • Attend conferences, seminars, etc. and report results to the SME as required.

  • Provide on the job training to Ship’s Force (S/F) during shipboard evolutions.

  • May require travel 10% or greater.

  • May require overtime.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent.

    • Desired minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the operation, repair, maintenance and assessment of U.S Navy diesel engines Diesel engine inspections, MPDE, SSDG, EDG associated support systems to include lube oil, fuel oil sea water, engine jacket water, engine control systems (electronic/pneumatic) and Vibration, Performance and Failure Analysis.
    • Must have recent (within 24 months) hands-on experience with the respective equipment to support.
    • Must be knowledgeable in engine performance analysis, repairs, machinery vibration and failure analysis.
    • Must be knowledgeable in interpreting, reviewing and applying engine work specifications, engine maintenance standards/practices, repair procedures and technical documentation.
    • Must have a current certification as a US Navy Fleet DEI, hold Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) 4314 and have a desired minimum of four (4) years of experience as a certified DEI in accordance with OPNAVINST 9220.3.
    • Must have familiarity of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Service either through experience and or equivalent OEM Factory/Navy training certificates/NEC.
    • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, inspections, visit

processes and reporting methods for visits

    • Demonstrate regularly using accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment.
    • Demonstrate ability for interpreting ship’s drawings, wiring diagrams and control schematics as required to accomplish assigned tasks.
    • Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes.
  • Familiarity with JFMM guidelines and policies.

  • Comply with NAVSEA standard items.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

  • Functional knowledge of MS Office Suite.

  • Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens.

  • Must possess or ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance


ADA Notations:

  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 50 lbs.

  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions.

  • Job may require bending, stooping, lifting.

  • Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.

  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.

  • May require wearing a respirator.

  • Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions.

  • Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States
