PROGRAM/ PORTFOLIO MANAGER

Permanent Hire.


Location: East, TX- Onsite 5 days a week.

International travel may be required.

The Program/ Portfolio manager has the overall responsibility for the successful planning, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of multiple concurrent projects and programs. Along with project management skills, the program manager should also have experience in partnering with the business. The program manager will be managing the schedule, directing resources-both EPMA & Client’s, and coordinating team members primarily remote throughout the US, Europe and Asia in order to deliver projects/program according to plan. The program manager is a team player with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. While demonstrating a strong desire for quality and attention to detail, the program manager should also have excellent problem solving and organizational skills. Along with demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to change, the program manager should adhere to strong change management disciplines.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the successful management of projects, programs and portfolios
  • Strong Project Management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently for a multi-national company
  • Manages project life cycle from planning through delivery and project closure
  • Conducts schedule update meetings and follows-up with project team members, when necessary
  • Creates, manages and tracks project documents including, but not limited to project schedules, action items, risk and issue logs, and regular status reporting
  • Good experience with processes to handle risks, issues and change control
  • Organizes, conducts, and attends meetings with project team and stakeholders to facilitate all levels of project planning and status reporting
  • Supports business leadership and workstream owners by leading the project team and escalating critical issues and risks
  • Performs pro-active project management by anticipating task delays and milestone impacts
  • Partners with the business leadership and workstream owners in leading the steering committee status update meetings with business leadership
  • Drives recommendations to leadership, including difficult tradeoffs between resources, schedule, and functionality
  • Ability to communicate with the C -suite level for program/ portfolio status reporting.
  • Manage internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
  • Define/ manage project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Manage resource availability and allocation.
  • Develop and implement detailed project plan to monitor and track progress.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
  • Perform risk management review to minimize program risks.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients, third parties and vendors.
  • Create and manage comprehensive project documentation.
  • Ensure the program review process and other quality control guidelines are followed.
  • Establish project teams, coordinate activities of multiple stakeholders, and ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff while assuring adherence to performance requirements of overall program.
  • Effectively communicate program status, risks, forecasted completion and costs to all stakeholders.
  • Manage preparation and approval of monthly internal reports.
  • Serve as primary contact on assigned projects and overall program
  • Consult and assist clients with concepts and designs.
  • Serve as a Business Advisor, providing senior level input, evaluation and guidance on issues.
  • Develop and implement process and procedure improvements to ensure maximum efficiencies and accuracy.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/ master’s degree in business administration, Management, Project Management, Decision Sciences, Engineering or related field
  • 7-10 years of related experience in a Program/ Portfolio, including two to three years of in Business Project Consulting
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with the stakeholders
  • PMP Certification
  • Solid knowledge of PMBOK
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Project
  • Familiarity with Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Visio
  • Solid understanding of Project Management methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience in manufacturing industry, logistics & distribution
  • Foreign Language is a plus: French/ German/ Dutch
