ePlus is Hiring a Remote National Principal Architect

Overview

As a National Principal Architect, you will be responsible for developing solutions around new and emerging technologies, serving as a thought leader and enabler for the technology both internal and external to the company. You will be one of the top company resources for strategic direction and tactical solutions for the technology creating tools, cultivating skills and weaving best practices into the fabric of the company.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

The National Principal Architect serves in a national position but must work closely with the regions and therefore must be able to create value through both direct and indirect team-building.

Architecture Development

  • Collaborate with the Solutions Director to design sales and engineering enablement programs
  • Support sales in customer facing meetings
  • Align with the Technical Leadership Councils to ensure that we are able to design, implement and manage new and emerging solutions
  • Collaborate with the Solutions Directors to create content to drive sales and improve project quality
    • Sales: Data sheets, technology presentations, solution positioning, competitive differentiators
    • Proposal: Reference designs, task lists, work breakdown structures, level of effort estimates, etc.
    • Delivery: Methodologies, processes, best practices, design templates, testing plans, etc.
  • Define market segments, product positioning, competitors, value proposition and go-to market strategy
  • Assess customer pain points and market demand to define compelling services offerings packaged as a product
  • Enable technical readiness, training and development on new solution offerings
  • Work on achieving additional relevant certifications that would benefit the Architect role

Business Development

  • Participate in identifying strategic and tactical manufacturer partnerships and key players necessary to achieve and sustain thought leadership new solutions
  • Evaluate, initiate, grow, and manage partnership opportunities with both manufacturer and services organizations
  • Identify, evaluate, and execute on opportunities to optimize or expand a line of business
  • Proactively work with ePlus vendor management team in achieving vendor certification targets and audit requirements
  • Ensure solutions are designed to drive services revenue to ePlus supported technologies
  • Work with ePlus’ Emerging Technology teams to evaluate emerging market trends and directions in order to accelerate technology adoption
  • Build credibility by establishing ePlus as an authority on the given technology
  • Expand industry awareness of ePlus through webinars, seminars, speaking engagements, blogging, publishing, and other forms of media

  • Previous success managing a profit and loss for a line of business
  • Previous success leading teams of 20 people
  • Previous success developing partnerships between different, independent entities
  • Previous success in sales and relationship-building roles
  • Previous success in managing and delivering IT projects, on time and on budget

Technical

  • Technical master to expert-level knowledge within area of specialty
  • Previous success in designing, developing, and implementing technical IT solutions
  • Demonstrated skill at architecting distributed solutions across technical disciplines
  • Must be fully knowledgeable and able to design, plan and support deployment efforts around IT security solutions:
    • Network Security
    • End Point & Mobile Security
    • Virtualization Security
    • Identity & Access management
    • Security Management and Operations
    • Encryption & VPN
    • Application Security (including web and database)
    • Anti-Malware Solutions
    • Web & Email Gateways
  • Issues authoritative, publishable opinions on emerging technologies and trends
  • Demonstrated ability to guide teams through multiple vendors’ product strategies
  • Holds highest or multiple advanced vendor certifications
  • Contributes to or shapes industry standards

Personal

  • Strong organization skills, presentation skills and acute attention to detail
  • Hunter, self-starter, high energy, passionate, healthy sense of urgency 
  • Can multi-task, prioritize to service multiple projects during same timeframe

  • Demonstrated business acumen in order to be valued by our internal and external decision makers. The Chief Security Architect serves in a national position but must work closely with the regions and therefore must be able to create value through both direct and indirect team-building

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred
  • 10 years of progressively successful career progression within an IT related industry
  • Experience working in a high growth, fast paced, high speed environment and industry
  • Deep knowledge of the Security technology architecture (cyber security, firewalls, intrusion prevention, penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, network access solutions, etc.)

Position Specifics:

The base salary range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $150,000 and $180,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including commissions and discretionary bonuses, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Physical Requirements of Position:

Ability of finger dexterity to be used primarily to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects or pinching fingers together. Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands and / or fingers. Speech ability must be at a level where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly or quickly. Hearing ability must be at a level to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information. Visual ability must be average with ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery. Physical strength for sedentary work with sitting most of the time. May have to exert or lift up to 10 – 20 pounds of force occasionally.
