SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Operations Lead partners with the plant leadership team to ensure production runs smoothly and assists where needed to break bottlenecks in the plant. Assists in processing material and packages orders for shipment, while ensuring all quality and customer specifications are met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Monitors employees arriving on-time for the shift and ensures all employees have left at shift end. If concerns, escalate to management.
• Provides Goals/Tasks Schedule to each asset, ensures all staff have a clear goal for the shift ahead.
• Assists in the training and development of new employees.
• Responsible for ensuring safety and security protocols are followed. Properly escalates any issues to management.
• Responsible for HACCP and ensuring AIB, SQF requirements are followed on a daily basis. 
• Operates and backfills equipment, as needed.
• Maintains and responds to any questions or concerns from the production team to keep production on schedule and quality in line with expectations.
• Makes schedule changes based on immediate needs or when issues arise.
• Helps management ensure that all breaks and in-plant policies are adhered to, including new policy and procedure communication. Escalates to management if there are issues after first talking to the employee to make them aware of the issue.
• Troubleshoots shift production issues.
• Communicates with prior shift management for proper handoff of production, as applicable.
• Assists the quality department with quality checks and troubleshooting.
• Performs or ensures equipment maintenance and upkeep is completed by Operators, including routine cleaning schedule.
• Returns unused material to inventory.
• Sweeps and empties trash in the plant.
• Covers call-ins, breaks, and/or vacations for operators, as needed.
• Helps load/unload trucks and organize the warehouse, if needed.
• Prepares orders to be shipped, if needed.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

• Minimum 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment
• High school diploma or GED, required 
• Experience in flexible packaging industry, running multiple machines, required
• Fork truck experience, preferred
• Experience using an ERP system preferred, such as Microsoft NAV or equivalent

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is located in the plant, and will be around moving mechanical parts and vibration.
