Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced HR Specialist with a strong background in both Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all HR functions related to DOT and HSE requirements, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations and industry best practices. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, communication skills, and a comprehensive understanding of both DOT and HSE policies.

Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary point of contact for all DOT, HSE, and HR-related matters, including but not limited to hiring, onboarding/training, and compliance.

Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that align with DOT and HSE regulations and company objectives.

Conduct thorough audits and reviews to ensure compliance with DOT and HSE requirements, including drug and alcohol testing, driver qualification files, workplace safety protocols, and other regulations.

Coordinate with relevant managers to facilitate DOT and HSE-mandated training programs for employees, supervisors, and managers.

Stay abreast of changes to DOT and HSE regulations and update internal policies and procedures accordingly.

Provide guidance and support to management and employees on DOT and HSE-related issues, including interpretation of regulations and resolution of compliance concerns.

Collaborate with internal departments to address any HR-related issues that may impact DOT and HSE compliance, such as performance management and disciplinary actions.

Maintain accurate records and documentation related to DOT and HSE compliance efforts, including audit trails and reports.

Participate in DOT and HSE audits and investigations, ensuring timely and appropriate responses to inquiries and requests for information.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in HR, with a focus on DOT and HSE compliance preferred.

Comprehensive knowledge of DOT and HSE regulations, including but not limited to FMCSA, OSHA, and other requirements.

Experience developing and implementing HR policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory standards.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to conduct thorough audits and reviews.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex regulatory information to diverse audiences.

Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence managers at all levels of the organization.

High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.

Certification in HR, HSE, or related field (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR, CSP) preferred.

Familiarity with HRIS systems and other HR-related software applications.

Location: Sheridan, CA

Travel: about 10%-20% (may be necessary)
