Entech Medical Staffing has an Immediate opening for a Medical Scribe for busy Cardiology practice located in the Walled Lake/Commerce Township area. Ideally this candidate will have 2 years of experience along with good customer service, communication, data entry skills and strong attention to detail. EMR knowledge is required.

Greet and welcome patient, escort patient to examination room, obtain medical history and chief complaint.

- Assists in the assessment of patient needs and health plan by taking vital signs, history, medication listing, assessing visual acuity and determining chief complaint. Assesses patients’ physical and mental status.

- Completes all necessary documentation in the patient’s medical record in accordance with practice’s charting policy.

- Prepares equipment and assists physicians with medical treatments, exams and medical procedures

- Administers prescribed oral medications and gives intramuscular and subcutaneous and intradermal injections. Performs venipunctures, CLIA-Waived and non-CLIA Waived lab testing.

5. Maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment for patients and visitors. This includes cleaning, sterilizing, and storing instruments in accordance with practice policies. Stocks rooms in preparation for the daily work schedule. Takes inventory of medical and exam room supplies.

6. Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, and other hazardous substances.

7. Arranges for specialized consultations and appointments for testing as ordered by the physicians. Notifies appropriate insurance personnel to pre-certify surgeries or tests ordered by the physician or other health care provider, which require pre-certification by the insurance company.

8. Answering office phones, assisting front desk in scheduling appointments and directing calls appropriately.

9. Assists in checking out patients and assists them with referral processing and scheduling process

As a medical scribe, your role will be to go into the rooms with the physician, observe and document the interaction between the patient and physician regarding the examination.

All the documentation will be done directly into the electronic medical record (EMR) which is the office health record for each patient. It contains all of the patient's medical information within the given health system so all HIPPA rules and regulations must be completely followed.

Main responsibility as a medical scribe will be to create a physician note that will become a part of the patient's permanent medical health record. This medical chart provides an account of the patient's clinical course, which includes the medical management and care the patient receives. This is a legal document which can be used in the court of law, therefore accuracy is imperative. Should discrepancies or uncertainties of details within the chart arise, the physician should be notified so revisions can be made as soon as possible when necessary.

The scribe is also a full corporate team member who should be able to work in a busy office, multi-task when needed to assist with regards to patient care and work well with others.

Qualifications:

HS Diploma or gen. equiv.

Medical Assistant Diploma/Certificate and/or transcripts

Min. 1-2 years of previous medical assisting experience in a healthcare setting.

BLS with the American Heart Association or willing to renew

Pay Rate Range: $20-$22.00 hourly pay rate
