Ensoma is Hiring a Scientist II, Immuno-Oncology (Solid Tumor) Near Boston, MA

We seek an energetic and motivated Scientist II to join our Immuno-Oncology team, which is aiming to redirect the immune system towards tumors by engineering hematopoietic cells in vivo. In this role, you will have the opportunity to explore novel immune cell engineering strategies, with an initial focus on monocytes and macrophages, by in vivo delivery of CARs and other immunomodulatory transgenes to reprogram the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. You will be expected to have a strong commitment to experimental work and be an independent thinker that can communicate and interact effectively across various disciplines.
You will join a team of scientists dedicated to moving a novel immunotherapy drug candidate into the clinicJoin us and be part of building a company revolutionizing the reach and access of the curative power of genomic medicines for patients with serious diseases.
Responsibilities:
  • Recommend and develop suitable syngeneic and xenogeneic tumor models and endpoint assays to interrogate novel immune cell engineering strategies, including in vivo CAR delivery
  • Drive collaborative research activities to design and test candidate CAR constructs for expression and functionality in vivo, including measuring phenotypic polarization, tumor infiltration, impact on tumor microenvironment, and anti-tumor activity
  • Maintain familiarity with current literature and developments in the field to guide the research project and make recommendations to the team
  • Maintain laboratory records, procedures and summaries of data
  • Perform laboratory experiments, report data, and suggest future work to management and project teams
Qualifications:
Required:
  • A PhD with a minimum of two years of relevant post-PhD work, or equivalent combination of relevant education and laboratory experience in biological sciences, preferably in Immunology, Biology or Cell Biology
  • Expertise with preclinical animal models to study novel immunotherapies, including immuno-oncology
  • Knowledge of biology and functional properties of various immune cell populations
  • Proven ability to work independently and design experiments, trouble shoot, interpret and report data back to teams
  • Experience developing content for presentations, electronic notebooks, and scientific reports
Preferred:
  • Prior experience working in a collaborative industry environment
  • Experience with preclinical animal models for cellular therapies in oncology
  • Expertise in myeloid cell biology
  • Experience with typical in vitro methodologies to measure immune cell function, including flow cytometry, ELISA, real-time microscopy, etc.
