    POSITION SUMMARY:
    This position supports teachers with behavior, instruction, and the medical and health needs of students. Assist teachers with clerical duties, student supervision and redirection. Provide feedback to teachers regarding individual student performance and needs. Provide student support to transportation to/from Englewood High School during morning and afternoon bus runs. Develop and promote good community relations among stakeholders.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Comply with Student Support Services and district policies and procedures (e.g., Medicaid documentation, accident reporting).
    Facilitate and support small groups and/or one on one instruction to reinforce skills, concepts and strategies.
    Elicit responses from every member of the group.
    Ensure understanding of material by all students.
    Lead multi-level students to work together effectively.
    Promote a learning environment that respects the dignity of the child and is perceived by students as fair and consistent.
    Support a learning environment that establishes routines and provides for student engagement through questioning, speculation, and originality.
    Encourage a learning environment that is safe for responding and questioning, even for the shyest student.
    Collaborate with team members regarding activities, planning and resources for special education students.
    Provide assistance to and supervision of students to and from the buses.
    Prepare materials for various types of interventions.
    Assist with test administration, scoring, data entry, and report generation.
    Establish student, staff and parental rapport that allows for a proactive response to potential problems.
    Actively participate in PLCs and other required training.
    Apply and implement knowledge, skills and new understandings to support instructional programming.
    Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

    EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
    Meet NCLB (No Child Left Behind) qualifications for Paraprofessionals.
    High school graduate or equivalent.
    Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
    Bilingual (preferred).
    English fluency will be determined through the interview process.
    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
    Valid Colorado Driver’s License.
    Current First Aid and CPR (or obtained within first six months of employment).
    GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:
    Is flexible.
    Has computer/technology skills; including working with assistive technology (talking devices, computers, I-Pad, I-Touch, etc.)
    Has the ability to use SmartBoard, computers and other technology aids used in classrooms.
    Has the ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
    Has the ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers.
    Has the ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
    Has the ability to perform responsibilities without the necessity of close supervision.
    Has the ability to effectively communicate with the School District community.
    Has the ability to analyze, instruct, negotiate, coordinate, communicate, problem solve and use interpersonal skills.
    Has the ability to compare, compute, synthesize and evaluate.
    Has the ability to meet attendance standards and work the hours necessary to perform the essential functions.
    Maintain strict confidentiality.
    Maintain a generally positive attitude.
    Observe all District policies and procedures.
    Adhere to federal and state legislation, regulation, and policies.
    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Occasional swimming, jogging/running.
    Frequent lifting ten (10) to twenty (20) pounds.
    Occasional lifting of up to one hundred-fifty (150) pounds, with assistance.
    Frequent sitting, bending, walking, standing, stooping, kneeling squatting, and reaching.
    Following employment offer/acceptance: Ongoing employment is conditional upon successful clearance of employer paid, job related, pre-employment physical.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Mostly clean and comfortable.
    May encounter noise, odors or body fluids.
    REPORTS TO:
    Principal or designee.

    SALARY:
    Hourly rate is $19.52 - $22.09 per hour, based upon education and prior related experience.
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    New hires or rehires will be responsible for the $49.50 fingerprint processing fee required for background checks through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
    CLOSING DATE:
