Desktop Support Specialist - Norfolk (onsite)
The Desktop Support Specialist provides local and remote enduser support.
They install, configure, maintain, and upgrade all microcomputerand peripheral equipment as needed to ensure standards and qualityassurance levels are met.
They are the first responders to IT Help Desk phone callsand emails and troubleshoot and correct user problems to the application accesslevel while promoting a helpful and positive image to our internal customersand external vendors alike.
- Troubleshoots desktop or laptop computer problems to the hardware component or application access level and resolves any issues found in a timely manner.
- Updates their open Help Desk tickets daily keeping customers informed of the progress.
- Document problem resolutions in the Help Desk application software.
- Setup and configure desktop or laptop computers as needed.
- Creates and maintains documentation pertaining to hardware or software installation procedures.
- Maintain an accurate list of computer assets.
- Provide excellent customer service at all times.
- Miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.
Requirements
Working knowledge of:
- MS Windows operating systems
- MS Office applications and Office 365
- Internet and common Internet browser software
- Excellent customer service skills in person or over the phone
- Microcomputer hardware and software troubleshooting skills
- Peripheral equipment troubleshooting skills such as printers, copier and fax
- Ability to stay calm and focused in a stressful environment
- Vocational or Technical Diploma required, with 1-3 years industry experience, Associate degree preferred.
- CompTIA A certification, CompTIA Network certification, Any Microsoft cert a plus
