Emulate is seeing tremendous expansion of organ-on-a-chip technology across disease research, drug discovery and drug development. Our technology enables cell biologists to recapitulate the complexity of human biology, delivering model systems that go beyond the capability of established in vitro cell culture methods and animal studies to advance the next generation of targeted therapies and interventions.

We are embarking on an exciting and ambitious plan to expand our offering of organ models and applications. With this expansion comes the need to provide intuitive software and cloud tools that drive organ on chip instrumentation workflows and downstream data analytics.

We are seeking a senior level software product leader to define and build the future of our software and cloud application experience. This is a highly visible role in the organization, working with our industry leading biological development and software engineering functions. The candidate will need to demonstrate an understanding of the life science market with experience in delivering and supporting software products for analytical instrumentation or analytical software for pharmaceutical drug discovery.

• Possess a fundamental understanding of end-to-end customer experience integration and dependencies

• Own the vision and strategy for Emulate Software and Data Tool products, with the goal to improve the user experience across the experimental workflow

• Gather and communicate the voice-of-customer user experience, data management needs and analytical workflow needs to cross-functional development teams, translating these to actionable product requirements

You areACCOUNTABLE and will: 

• Act as the utmost experience subject matter professional on Emulate software and cloud application workflows, providing training and enablement to other functions
• Work directly with our pharma and biopharma customers, as well as the Emulate scientific, strategy and sales leads to clarify concepts and develop functional requirements
• In conjunction with software engineering, manage and prioritize the software and cloud application development roadmap, providing cross-functional coordination on new product or product update releases

You are HUMAN and will: 

• Balance strategic planning with a hands-on, team-based approach

You are ONE and will: 

• Partner with Product Marketing to develop messaging and content in a variety of forms (written, recorded, live presentation) for deployment in a number of digital marketing communication channels (web experience, e-mail, social and third party)
• Work in partnership with field sales and support teams to define aspects of commercialization plans, such as sales training, customer training resources and field competency for successful hand-off and backing of field teams

Other tasks may be assigned as needed.

Desired Skills:

• 7-10 years relevant work experience in the Life Sciences tools space; experience with pre-clinical biological tools preferred
• Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences discipline; Master’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Analytics/Data Science preferred
• Experience with leading analytical/ life science instrumentation software portfolios or cloud-based SaaS data analytical tools
• Experience with formal product development processes, with a track record of applying rigor to drive to commercial success
• Knowledge of the pharmaceutical drug discovery workflow from discovery to pre-clinical development, including regulatory requirements for software and data management, with a track record of delivering or supporting software and analytical data solutions to the pharmaceutical customer
• Experience marketing to life science researchers and drug discovery biologists
• Demonstrated effectiveness working in cross functional teams, both local and remote, with effective ability communicating product strategy, driving stakeholders to shared vision and goals
• Solid analytical reasoning, and the ability to make complex decisions at the interface between business and science
• Excellent communication ability in written, verbal, and in live presentation settings
• Ability to convey technical information at the appropriate level of detail depending on the context (g., published collateral, conference presentations, sales training material, senior management reviews)
• Ability to travel between 10-20%, including international travel
• Excellent organization and time management skills

Please note that the Associate Director, Product Management: Software & Cloud Applications (Life Sciences) is a Boston-based position and will be expected to be on-site a minimum of 3 days/week. Experience in Life Sciences is required to be considered.
