EMSL is Hiring a Laboratory Technician (Microbiology) Near St. Louis, MO

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Technician (Microbiology) in St. Louis, MO. The technician supports the laboratory analysts by preparing samples for analysis. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform standard and non-standard laboratory prep procedures according to internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for microbiology environmental samples received from clients
Prepare samples received for analysis for all departments, including fungal spore samples
Media and Reagent Preparation
Sample preparation and pH Adjustments
Work with phase contrast and light microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and adhere to sterile technique and good lab practices
Documentation of sample preparation, quality assurance/quality control and analytical activities
Assist with laboratory organization, supply inventory, calibrations, and cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment
Some clerical work may be involved including login and data entry and scanning and emailing reports
Cross training in other laboratory disciplines as needed to meet business demands
Maintaining quality assurance/quality control and company policy
Requirements:
Minimum of an Associate's Degree in a Life Science (Biology, Microbiology, etc.)
Experience with spore traps, direct microscopic exam, food testing, food microbiology, or other culture-based microbiology, bacteriology, mycology is a plus
Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Good communication skills (will have some client interaction)
Proficient in typing and Microsoft Office
Attention to detail
Must have an understanding of custody client confidentiality
Ability to work independently and with a team
Ability to work well under pressure and meet client deadlines
Available Shift:Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
