We are seeking a highly qualified professional individual to fill the role of Manufacturing Tooling Design Supervisor.
Primary Responsibilities:
•Provide supervision to a small team of tool designers and act as the technical expert for tool design within Nammo. Supervision tasks include tracking tooling costs, design hours, schedule, and leading the team of designers.
•Work closely with product and manufacturing engineers to create and revise assembly tooling, fixtures, molds, pressure vessels, vacuum chambers, dies, cutting tools and gage designs.
•Provide cost effective, robust and efficient solutions that address safety and ergonomic concerns.
•Create part, sheet metal and assembly models in CAD.
•Create detailed, fully defined CAD data packages per MIL-STD-31000 and ASME Y14.100.
•Perform hand calculations involving tolerances, force, torque, pressure, stress, strain, thermal properties, etc.
•Perform basic stress analysis using Ansys Simulation Software.
•Interface with engineers and personnel in manufacturing, operations, supply chain, quality control and machine shops.
•Perform all file management, data management, and document release processes.
•Provide mentoring and support to infrequent CAD users.
•Provide CAD software support and act as the SolidEdge system administrator for tooling design.
Required Experience & Skills:
•Ability to manage a small team of tool designers.
•10 years 3D Parametric Solids Modeling, Solid Edge preferred but not required. Comparable experience with NX, or SolidWork is acceptable.
•Fluency with ASME Y14.5, certification preferred.
•At least 15 years of relevant experience designing tooling or assemblies of a mechanical nature, with pneumatics and electronics.
•Experience designing semi-automated machines using both pneumatics and servo drives.
•Problem solving skills related to mechanical design and function.
•Basic understanding of mechanics, physics and geometry.
•Understanding of basic strength of materials, manufacturing methods, machining processes, finishes and coatings.
•Understanding of joining methods: bolted joints, welding, brazing, press fits.
•Understanding of design limitations of materials: aluminums, steel alloys, CRES, plastics, and composites.
•Proficient in design and documentation of weldments.
•Skilled in purchased component selection for design applications.
•Background in designing to military specifications preferred.
•A bachelor's in mechanical Drafting, Engineering Technology, or Engineering is preferred but not required.
•MS Office proficiency: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Project.
•Willingness to continentally challenge the status quo and look for opportunities to drive improvements within the field of tooling design and automation.
•Ability to obtain and maintain ATF Processor license.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Teamcenter experience.
•CAD administration and customization experience.
