Job Description

SGM is seeking a full-time Building Structural Engineer for our Grand Junction or Glenwood Springs, CO office. Our team is responsible for the structural design, evaluation, and condition assessment of buildings, retaining walls, and miscellaneous structures for a variety of public and private clients on the West Slope of Colorado. The key responsibilities for this position include working and coordinating with a multi-disciplinary team, development of construction documents for structural projects, and self-managing design tasks with attention to the project scope, schedule, and budget. There will be occasional travel to site visits within the region. The successful candidate must be a fast learner who is an organized self-starter with a strong attention to detail. The candidate is expected to be a team player with strong written and verbal communication skills and a strong desire to live, work and play in Western Colorado.

Annual salary is based on experience: Engineer I (0-2 yrs experience) - $70,000 - $79, 000, and Engineer II (2-5 years experience) - $72,000 - $88,600

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS degree in Structural Engineering, or Architectural or Civil Engineering with a Structural focus
• EI Certification or ability to obtain in the first year of employment
• 0-5 years of experience in the structural design and construction of buildings
• Knowledge of building codes and material specific structural codes
• Ability to use software to complete basic structural analysis and validate results with simplified methods
• Proficiency with the following software: Microsoft Office and structural analysis software
• Ability to self-manage design tasks and stay within project scope, schedule, and budget
• Valid Driver's License

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• MS degree in Structural Engineering, or Civil Engineering with a Structural focus
• Proficiency with REVIT and AutoCAD and generating Structural Contract Documents
• Experience in structural design and detailing of concrete, steel, and timber members
• Experience preparing structural design calculations and developing clear and concise calculation packages that are easily reviewed by senior staff and review agencies
• Building construction experience
