Empirical Systems Aerospace is Hiring a Senior Accountant Near San Luis Obispo, CA
- Prepare journal entries during month end and annual close, on complex and sensitive areas in line with U.S. GAAP
- Support Accounting Manager and CFO in analyzing the data that goes into a financial statements and management reports to make sure it is true and fair.
- Support CFO & Accounting Manager to ensure timely and accurate month-end and annual accounting close.
- Prepare schedules, workpapers and other documentation in support of the annual financial audit, tax returns, and other audits & compliance activities.
- Monitor adherence with internal controls.
- Implement and maintain consistent accounting policies in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Supervise, coach, and develop junior members of staff within the finance department.
- Coordinate with other departments (e.g. operations) as necessary to ensure accuracy of information needed for financial statement preparation.
- Support CFO and Accounting Manager with various ad hoc tasks/projects.
- Other duties as necessary to execute accounting functions and maintain financial system compliance.
- US Citizen
- Minimum 4 Years of accounting experience ideally in public accounting or in a corporate setting
- Excellent understanding of US GAAP as well as basic auditing principles
- BS in Accounting (CPA part/fully qualified preferred)
- Experience with ERP/NetSuite & Paychex (preferred but not required)
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills
- Extreme attention to detail
- Strong team player with good communication skills
- Familiarity with DCAA compliance a plus
