BASIC FUNCTION:

Project Manager will work closely with the Film, Arts, & New Media staff, key ESD departments, the Governor’s Office, State and local agencies, and digital game development stakeholders to promote and grow New York State’s Digital Game Development industry. Primary responsibilities include assisting in management of the NYS Digital Game Tax Credit, track and summarize external trends, developments, and relevant policies and politics affecting ESD and NYS in the digital game industry, think strategically and problem solve by actively contributing to discussions and the execution of long-term policy visions and short-term crisis management, lead and/or assist with the execution of key industry partnerships and events and collaborate on the creation and implementation of new programs and policies related to digital game development, and actively promote the state’s resources to encourage more investment in the digital game development industry in New York State. They will support ESD’s role as a premier economic development agency and ensure New York’s economy continues to strategically grow, prosper and reflect the diversity that is New York State.

WORK PERFORMED:

1. Manage intake and tracking of applications to the NYS Digital Game Development Tax Credit and liaise with the Economic Incentives team on matters with the tax credit and pending applications.
2. Produce the ESD Digital Game Development Newsletter, social media content, manage digital game webpage, and lead on marketing and outreach strategies for attracting Digital Game Development studios and related organizations to NYS.
3. Organize industry events including bi-monthly webinars, industry roundtables, stakeholder events, and the annual presence at the Game Developers Conference and Games for Change conferences.
4. Oversee trade delegations and NYS representation in relevant industry conferences including the Games Development Conference (GDC), Gamescon, MIGs, and others.
5. Strategically assist the VP and Director in all needs as new tasks and projects arise.
6. Participate in discussions with the industry and Governor’s office regarding Digital Game Development.
7. Identify potential collaborations across NY State for Digital Game Development industries and partners for possible expansions and future programs.
8. Hold themselves, internal, and external colleagues to accountable deliverables.
9. Effectively summarize meetings and project updates within small working groups advancing collectively agreed upon objectives, delegating work and accepting responsibility for mistakes.
10. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education Level required : bachelor’s degree. Open to a variety of fields in the Arts or Sciences including (but not limited to):

Computer Science, Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Media & Communications, Digital Game Development or equivalent work experience in one or more of these sectors.

Experience required: 3 years relevant experience, preferably within the Digital Game Development industry; multi-platform marketing experience, building strategies and planning execution of public policy, economic development, technology and business development; multidisciplinary background preferred.

Knowledge required: Excellent project management and organizational, writing, researching, and presentation skills. Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data and provide relevant conclusions/recommendations/strategy. Firm understanding of the principals of economic development, State, City and regional policy and political matters. Familiarity translating public policy and press matters into policy and communication strategies.
