JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Supports monitoring and management of Emory Enterprise storage area networks and tape back-up infrastructure.
• This position provides storage space for internal and external UTS-specific users and applications.
• He or she contributes to storage hardware and software updates to ensure enterprise storage management remains current with new technologies and meets business demands.
• Documents storage processes and procedures to ensure record keeping is current and to expedite planned changes.
• Builds new devices from existing disk groups to supplement future host provisioning.
• Creates and configures Network Attached Storage for internal and external customers to expand storage options.
• Maintains provisioning standards to create storage and operational efficiencies.
• Builds and utilizes scripts to automate large and repetitive tasks.
• Provides technical support to facilitate efficient data migration to the Storage Area Network.
• Assists with configuring storage-monitoring tools to provide service degradation and capacity issues alerts.
• Assists with developing custom monitoring scripts to provide more flexible monitoring.
• Collaborates with vendor support staff to resolve hardware and software issues quickly and to minimize customer impact.
• Remains current with vendor software releases to correct bugs and vulnerabilities in currently-deployed software.
• Assists with new software functionality evaluations to ensure customer value and to adhere to current configuration requirements.
• Contributes to standardized base level standards for firmware to ensure devices in the enterprise environment are compatible.
• Documents procedures for fixing common problems to expedite resolutions for future problems.
• Documents new product and process design and implementation to assist peers with understanding storage technologies.
• Complies with provisioning storage standards and guidelines to ensure availability and performance configurations adherence.
• Performs related responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma and two years of relevant IT experience OR, an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or education.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University location as needed and at times, on short notice. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
