Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Assumes a senior role in the planning, development, and implementation of various aspects of a complex global program.
  • Serves as a liaison and key spokesperson to various committees and organizations.
  • Leads policy formulation, strategy development, and management of daily operations.
  • Collaborates with representatives from private, government, and international agencies to design, implement and/or evaluate program-related projects and strategies that effectively address the public needs associated with the program.
  • Conducts research, designs new initiatives, and writes publishable articles and papers.
  • May write grant proposals, and prepare/present associated reports to funding organizations and to clients.
  • May engage in fundraising initiatives on behalf of the program.
  • May oversee the annual budget and other financial aspects of the program.
  • May supervise staff.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

  • Manage the USAID-funded Bangladesh, Advancing Women’s Right to Information (AWRTI) project from Atlanta, including both programmatic and operational aspects.
  • Coordinate work between the other members of the Atlanta AWRTI team, including component managers and support staff.
  • Coordinate and ensure consistency between outputs from AWRTI’s three Atlanta-based component managers. Review documents, including draft contracts, subawards, invoices, expense reports, communications materials, and reports, before submission to the RLP (Interim) Director for approval.
  • Provide technical support and backstopping to the AWRTI team in Dhaka, particularly the Chief of Party (COP) and Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP).
  • Ensure program compliance with Carter Center and USAID rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide guidance to the Bangladesh team on monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
  • Review and approve all project deliverables, including reports, assessments, and plans, for submission to USAID in coordination with the RLP (Interim) Director and the Carter Center Development Office.
  • Serve as AWRTI’s main point of contact in Atlanta for other Carter Center departments, the RLP (Interim) Director, the Bangladesh country office, and project partners and consultants.
  • Provide coaching and support to AWRTI’s three key personnel (COP, DCOP, and the Associate Director/Communications and Documentation (AD/CD)).

# of hours per week and onsite requirements

  • 40 hours per week
  • No onsite requirements, but should be located in the Eastern time zone or otherwise able to work similar hours as the Atlanta-based AWRTI team (~7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET plus one late-night call per week).

Length of assignment (anticipated start & end date) *

  • 6 months: ~January 15 – July 15, 2024

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in a field related to the program and seven years of professional experience related to the program and previous supervisory and program/project management experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
