Position: Finance Manager

Department: Emigrant Partners

Reports To: CFO

Employment Status: Full-Time

Office Location: Corporate Office, NY (Hybrid, 2 days in office)

Job Summary:

Emigrant Partners is looking for a Finance Manager/VP Finance to support all finance activities working closely with and reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.

  • Technological Aptitude – Ability to interface with technology vendors to automate as much of the finance and related functions as possible; working to customize reporting within the framework of available technological solutions
  • Business Acumen and Dexterity – Ability to understand and utilize knowledge of wealth management, business strategies and operating processes to senior leadership with achievement of key goals and objectives, including creation and ownership of KPIs and dashboard reports; ability to balance strategic planning with tactical execution
  • People-Driven Skills – Building strong relationships and communicating effectively (writing, speaking and listening), developing relationships with colleagues and partner firm finance staff
  • Intellectual Curiosity – Ability to utilize analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills to see beyond the numbers and understand their impact on the business (“the big picture”). Ability to take initiative, identify problems and propose and execute solutions
  • Results-Driven “Hands-On” Mentality – Strong entrepreneurial spirit, high professional ambition, and a willingness to “do whatever it takes” to support the team and the firm’s success
  • Attention to Detail – Strong ability to deliver accurate reports, analyses and other work product, which are supported by readily-available documentation and detail
  • Project Management – Ability to organize/prioritize actions needed to drive a desired outcome and hold people accountable for results

Responsibilities:

  • Review, reconcile, and analyze each partner firm’s financial statements and other submitted information to ensure complete and accurate reporting
  • Understand the functionality of EP’s reporting system (Dynamo), assist with implementation and gradually assume primary responsibility for the ongoing maintenance and oversight
  • Review with the CFO monthly P&L for EP and its affiliate provided by the bank’s finance department, and work to clarify or correct individual items as needed
  • Work with partner firms to review and approve annual budgets, conduct mid-year budget reviews; compile mid-year and annual budget presentations of EP’s consolidated business financials and performance
  • Monitor and report quarterly on partner firm covenant compliance
  • Prepare quarterly and annual credit reviews
  • Work with internal audit team and outside audit professionals
  • Prepare select quarterly valuations of EP’s credit positions
  • Prepare quarterly portfolio performance reviews
  • Support M&A integration processes at partner firms as needed
  • Recommend and drive continuous improvement in finance operations, implement new processes
  • Improve and maintain internal controls; document and recommend improvements to internal financial policies and procedures
  • Ad-hoc requests and special projects, such as system upgrades/implementation, workflow automation, account trend and vendor cost analysis, etc.

Qualifications:

  • 4-7 years of experience in Corporate Accounting or Finance with progressive professional development
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or relevant field
  • Public accounting background preferred but not required
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting policies and compliance
  • Experience in Professional Services, Financial Services, Wealth Management or Asset Management preferred; credit experience and bank regulatory knowledge a plus
  • Aptitude and experience using MS Office suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); ability to create, update and interpret excel models is a requirement
