Emerson College is Hiring a Director, Athletic Communications Near Boston, MA

The Director, Athletics Communications acts as a key link between the College's athletics department and the public by strategically engaging with local and national media outlets. The Director oversees the Sports Information Office, managing both internal and external communications for the department. They ensure the department adheres to all NCAA and conference policies and procedures regarding sports information, statistical reporting, and game management.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Serve as the primary liaison for all media communications, efficiently distributing sports information to stakeholders and directing the sports communication strategy. This includes managing the Athletics Information Office and ensuring compliance with NCAA and conference standards.
  • Oversee game management and facility logistics, from scheduling to ensuring venue readiness for athletes, officials, and spectators. This encompasses managing game-day staff and maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations and statistical analysis, addressing cleanup, debriefing staff, and compiling accurate athlete statistics for various purposes, including media dissemination and archival records.
  • Direct the athletics website and social media engagement strategy, maintaining historical archives and fostering audience interaction across platforms.
  • Facilitate collaboration with the NEWMAC conference office and ensure comprehensive compliance and coordination within the department.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of communication strategies and oversee staff training on operational protocols and standards, representing the college in professional settings and maintaining relationships with media representatives.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by the Assoc. Dean for Campus Life, Director of Athletics.
QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field required
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google applications, Adobe Creative Suite, website management, live streaming, and statistical software

  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Knowledge of business and management principles.

COMPENSATION
Compensation for this position will be between $ 55,600 - $ 68,150 annually, commensurate with experience.
