Emerson Career Site is Hiring an Electrical Design Technician Near Shakopee, MN

If you are an Electrical Design Technician professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting role for you! Based in our Shakopee, MN location, you will coordinate supporting new product development efforts as well as sustaining engineering support as part of our Pressure and Temperature development team. You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, quality and manufacturing engineers to meet the customers’ needs.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Support engineering by performing tasks of simple to moderate complexity that involve testing, evaluating, solving, programming, and documenting of microelectronic, electronic, mechanical and electromechanical devices and fixtures.
  • Work from engineering drawings, detailed sketches, or verbal instructions where processes, materials, layout, types of components and dimensions may be specified.
  • Craft simple circuits, fixtures, or mechanical parts.
  • Perform tests of moderate complexity and records data. Interprets test data and adjusts course of action based on feedback and results.
  • Perform critical problem-solving, calibration, failure analysis or modification of test hardware, fixtures, software, and lab equipment.
  • Assemble prototypes during product development as well as circuit modifications as needed during the development process.

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • 2-year technical degree OR 1800 hours of technical education or equivalent
  • Zero (0) to three (3) or more years of related experience
  • Basic understanding of analog/digital circuit theory
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States 
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
  • Moderate understanding of the set-up and use of electrical and electronic test equipment (e.g., power supplies, function generators, ovens, oscilloscopes…) 
  • Knowledge of soldering and associated techniques
  • Basic understanding of detailed assembly drawings and circuit diagrams/schematics
