Our subspecialty orthopedic teams provide advanced expertise in the diagnosis and management of acute & chronic injuries and conditions. Our Sports Medicine providers concentrate on caring for all types of athletes - professional, collegiate, high school, and recreational.

As we continue to expand our Sports Medicine Program, we are seeking a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer to join our team of professionals. The athletic trainer’s primary responsibility will be to provide athletic training services to the student-athletes of an assigned Guilford County secondary school under the supervision of an EmergeOrtho physician. The athletic trainer will also have opportunity to serve other active populations through our Sports Medicine Outreach Program.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide athletic training services including but not limited to injury prevention, recognition, evaluation, as well as acute injury & illness management
  • Medical record keeping/documentation management (maintain accurate documentation of medical treatments, clinical evaluations, therapeutic intervention & rehabilitation of injuries & medical conditions, as well as DME and referrals using a computer-based management software)
  • Development and maintenance of emergency action plans
  • Provide education
  • Systematize and manage sports medicine supplies and equipment inventory
  • Communicate appropriately and effectively with coaches, administration, event coordinators, parents, student-athletes, and other healthcare providers
  • Provide Community Outreach Sports Medicine Services as requested by EmergeOrtho Triad Region.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Actively participates in professional development 
  • Maintains professional certification and licensure in good standing
  • Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA privacy and confidentiality guidelines as established by EmergeOrtho
  • Acquires and maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other software as it relates to job function
  • Provide Community Outreach Sports Medicine Services as requested by EmergeOrtho Triad Region
  • Report directly to the EmergeOrtho Triad Region Sports Medicine Manager, and/or Team Physician

Typical Physical Demands

Position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, as well as manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking. Employee must be capable of lifting fifty (50) pounds of weight alone. Normal visual acuity and hearing are required. Employee will work under stressful conditions and work irregular hours. Can include weekends and holidays. 1%-10% travel required.

Typical Working Conditions

Employee will provide athletic training services at both indoor and outdoor venues.
