POSITION OVERVIEW:
The CUAS watch stander will work as part of a small team to provide 24/7 real time air-space monitoring of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) detection and early warning system. The candidate will provide direct support as an operator of a C-UAS detect, tract, ID, and locate system. The candidate will provide onsite C-UAS technical support for troubleshooting and sustainment. This position requires technical skill, personal resilience and flexibility, critical thinking, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work as part of a cross-functional team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct daily station monitoring with the ability to provide C-UAS technical and operational Subject Matter Expertise at Post.
  • Understand reporting requirements and prepare reports; copy and store host data and event logs.
  • Provide responsive and timely information during events and continuously communicate with Operational Centers (OPC’s) staff and Watch Officers (WO’s).
  • Troubleshoot system problems and/or integration issues, assist in determining solutions in accordance with customer needs.
  • Respond to hardware, software, and network problems of the C-UAS.
  • Conduct basic programming of CUAS systems install / upgrade firmware, software updates.
  • Conduct operational support, monitoring, and maintenance of CUAS systems in to support client CUAS operational requirements.
  • Perform technical inspections, system checks, fault diagnosis and identify cause of failures, and test and restore CUAS systems to full functionality.

Primary Responsibilities Include (But Are Not Limited To):

  • Interface directly with Government customers as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for CUAS system support.
  • May be relied on for technical security repairs in support of the Engineering Service Office.
  • Make recommendations to the CUAS team for system functionality improvements based on experience gained through operational use of CUAS systems.
  • Develop and improve operations processes/practices based on best practices and lessons learned.
  • Work with the CUAS team to conduct training on the use, maintenance, and preventive maintenance of systems.
  • May be required to travel to customer locations to assist with the initial installation and equipment fielding.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Department of State Operations Centers (OPC’s).
  • Technical experience working as a field engineer installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, repairing, operating and effectively training end users on how to operate equipment is highly desired.
  • Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) transmission, detection, and deterrence equipment.
  • Experience with Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) operation & capabilities, command and control, and guidance systems.
  • Experience with Linux based operating systems.
  • Candidate must hold a valid U.S. passport or have ability to obtain a U.S. passport.
  • Must have a current US Government SECRET level Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance/access approvals. Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance.

Education:

  • Combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience is required.

Experience:

  • 2 years’ experience serving in a Command and Control Operations Center, or Military Base Defense Operations Centers.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills Requirements:

  • Position requires daily interface with customers. Candidate must possess, and use, a high degree of tact and interpersonal communication skills in daily interactions with team members, clients, and end users.
  • Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under minimal supervision.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to interact with all levels of an organization in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful manner.
  • Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work independently and as a member of a cohesive team.
  • Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects, and have strong attention to detail.
  • Must possess excellent writing and verbal skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Windows operating systems and office automation software (e.g., Microsoft Office, SharePoint).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Requirements: Manual lifting of objects 50-80 pounds such as boxes and other equipment may be required. Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders; scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc. Manual dexterity required for frequent reaching, climbing, and lifting of moderate objects, operation of power and manual tools/equipment, and operating office equipment.

Work Conditions: Typical assignments are frequently performed in internal environments. This position will support a 24/7 work cycle.

On September 24, 2021, the U.S. Government’s Safer Federal Workforce Task Force issued “2021 Guidance for Federal Contractors and Subcontractors” mandating that Covered federal contractors, including EMD LLC, and their employees shall be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Therefore, this position may require individuals to be fully vaccinated (2 weeks past final dose) or have been granted a religious or medical accommodation by December 8, 2021 or shortly thereafter.

Travel:

This position is deployed to OCONUS locations up to 75% of the calendar year. This position rotates on a 90/21 rotation cycle - 90 days at the duty location and 21 days off work cycle. Overseas locations may be located in high-risk environments. Domestic travel may be required for training and program coordination. TDY may be required in the Washington D.C. metro area for training and support duties prior to departure to assigned overseas work location. Must also be willing to serve in positions worldwide. Must be able to obtain Department of State Class 1 Medical Clearance.
