Description

The Laboratory Specialist is responsible for supporting the scientist in the facilitation of research and testing. The primary role includes performance of scientific tests, collection and preparation of test samples, maintenance of sterile testing environment, clerical documentation and recording, research and administrative data management, stock management, calibration and trouble-shooting of testing equipment. Plays a multifaceted role in the laboratory setting, combining scientific expertise, technical proficiency, and organizational skills to support research initiatives and facilitate scientific discovery and will also be responsible for quality control testing and must understand biohazard safety protocols. They must have good eye-hand coordination, must be able to pay attention to details, have good communication skills, and able to follow procedural instructions. Conducting experiments, collecting data, and analyzing results using various laboratory techniques and equipment. This involves designing experiments, troubleshooting experimental procedures, and ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.

Operating and maintaining laboratory instruments and equipment. This includes calibration, troubleshooting, and performing routine maintenance to ensure proper functionality and accuracy of results.

Overseeing laboratory operations, including maintaining inventory of supplies and reagents, managing laboratory budgets, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and protocols. They may also be responsible for ordering supplies, organizing laboratory space, and coordinating with other team members or departments.

Analyzing experimental data using statistical software or other analytical tools and preparing reports or presentations summarizing findings.

Qualifications

Master/PhD degree 

State license

Phlebotomy skills

Operate Laboratory Equipment such as microscope and automated cell counters that analyzes multiple samples at the same time

2 years of experience or more

Experience in hematology and/or blood banking
