POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for completion of modeling, drafting, technical illustrations and maintenance manual assignments utilizing the proper drawing formats, drafting standards, numbering conventions and design standards. Drawing assignments may include revising existing or generating new, detail, assembly or installation drawings of mechanical, structural or electrical aircraft component designs. Illustration assignments may include revising existing or generating new technical illustrations for fleet modifications or aircraft manuals. Assignments may also include generating design layouts, checking drawings for standards compliance, facilitating drawing release and coordinating the change process.

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Supports Engineering Project Team requirements by providing complete and accurate Technical Documents (3D models, drawings, parts lists, technical illustrations, and related supporting documents) using specifications, manufacturer instruction manuals, FAA regulations, Embraer approved procedures, acceptable industry practices, and customer expectations concurrent with established project timelines.
  • Learns and efficiently utilizes the company's design and engineering data base of product design and technical illustrations.
  • Using drafting techniques and tools, creates drawings and illustrations for equipment installations and/or interior, structural, or electrical assemblies/ installations by developing and utilizing knowledge of the company’s service, materials, products, and equipment capabilities and limitations.
  • Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material and/or assembly sequence.
  • Coordinates draft review by engineering, flight test, or experimental, as required, to ensure technical accuracy and appropriate operational procedure.
  • Organizes material and completes writing assignment according to set standards (i.e. - FAA, ANAC, GAMA, ATA, and Embraer) regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Studies drawings, specifications, mock-ups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail.
  • Works to continually improve and develop basic design and engineering skills.
  • Supports special projects and/or other duties as assigned by management.
  • Ensure that work accomplished meets applicable customer specifications.
  • Will participate with engineering and design teams to produce technical illustrations, arrangement, and elevation drawings in support of customer specification and design approval.
  • Ensure all work completed is following all Embraer and Industry standards.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education:

  • Associate degree or equivalent in drafting, engineering or related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Some experience in Commercial, Business and General Aviation aircraft modifications and/or related experience preferred.

Experience:

  • FLSA Exempt, Intermediate Level Individual Contributor on a functional group.
  • 2 years of prior related experience in creating complex technical illustrations and 3D/2D designs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Comprehension and understanding of broad practices associated within the field assigned. Applies these understandings in the completion of moderately complex work assignments.
  • Customer focused with good relationship building skills.
  • Knowledge of executive or commercial aircraft and the aviation market with particular emphasis on Cabin Interiors, Airframe Structures, and/or Electrical Systems
  • Must have a basic understanding of the tactical application for Aircraft products.
  • Comprehension required of fundamental practices associated within the field of work assigned.
  • Knowledge of industry policies and practices which will be gradually obtained
  • Resolves problems that are of a clearly defined nature and easily identifiable as to the best method of resolution.
  • Work assignments are generally reviewed regularly by higher level professional colleagues or manager on a regular and pre-determined basis.
  • Exercises independent judgment in the interpretation of established policies and procedures developed by others.
  • Proficient computer skills with use of Microsoft office applications.
  • Exceptional writing ability, extraordinary attention to detail, and a highly organized mind.
  • Proficient in CAD Tools (e.g. Isodraw, CATIA V5, CATIA Composer) is desired. Training will be provided if required
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Must possess good written and oral presentation skills and the ability to communicate ideas effectively to senior management.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills; ability to become involved in a number of projects in a fast paced work environment.
  • Portuguese or Spanish language skills a plus
  • Knowledge of technical illustrations and ATA Spec 2200

Working Conditions / Environment/ Special Requirements

  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations.
  • Employees will be subject to the random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations.
  • Availability for domestic and international travel
  • Hybrid work (at least three days a week at the office)
