Telecommuting/Remote work options available - Hybrid/Partial Remote

Starting salary: $48,080 - $55,292 per year (dependent on experience)

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

This position is responsible for maintaining general ledger, financial reports, recording assigned entries and maintaining schedules to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and customer service in the delivery of these functions. This position is also responsible for the MIS accounting functions, including but not limited to Prophix and Solomon.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Review general ledger weekly to ensure timeliness of entries for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the chart of accounts.
  • Run detail and supplemental reports for accuracy and recording.
  • Maintain closing binder, audit and tax filing systems.
  • Prepare journal entries and workpaper schedules as assigned.
  • Assist with monthly and annual general ledger close process within specified timelines.
  • Follow up with preliminary open items.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies, inquires, etc. using available systems.
  • Assist with annual audit and tax schedules.
  • Assist with continued process improvement activities by communicating and escalating relevant issues to Financial Statement Director, ensuring data integrity and compliance. Leading initiatives to process improvements within accounts receivables and accounts payables, and assisting manager in identifying and implementing process changes from root cause analysis to improve timeliness of invoices and payments. 
  • Maintain, verify and train when necessary the MIS systems of accounting.
  • Participates in creation and annual reviews of Unity Policy and Procedures Manuals to ensure all policy and procedures reflect current state, federal and system of care requirements.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.
  • Participate in the agency strategic plan & quality improvement processes.
  • Ability to safely & successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, & other federal, state, & local standards, including meeting qualitative & quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA & other federal, state, & local standards.
  • Ability to comply with all personnel policies & procedures.
  • Special projects for the department as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Five years in general ledger accounting experience
  • Considerable knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures in the recording, classifying, and examination of fiscal transactions.
  • Proficient with accounts receivable and accounts payable end to end process, a good understanding of General Ledger accounts and month & year end close

Preferred:

  • MIS Degree and or relevant experience
  • Experience in a non-profit organization
  • Experience with Solomon/Prophix Accounting Software
  • Experience in multi-company environment

SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Solomon, Prophix
  • Good customer service skills
  • Ability to analyze financial data, recognizes errors, and implements corrections
  • Detailed oriented
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Demonstrate cultural and linguistic competence & sensitivity to population served
  • Ability to consistently maintain quality, accuracy and high volume of work on a timely basis
  • Ability to represent and promote positive and solution-oriented behaviors within their team and the organization
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize numerous tasks and completes them under time constraints
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financial and employee files while enforcing internal policies
  • The successful candidate is proactive, a team player and flexible during month-end close
  • Numerous data entry or 10-key proficiency
  • Ability to travel

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

  • Thorough Background Screening upon hire including FBI, FDLE, Local Law check, Employment Reference check, DMV check, Criminal Records check, Social Security Trace & Drug Screening. FDLE check will be run at least every 5 years.
  • On-call assignments- N/A
  • Travel- local: 2.5% per week, long-distance: 0% per month
