Job Title: Accountant

Accounts Payable

• Responsible for accounts payable and receivables of multiple properties
• Maintains accounts payable workflows by setting up vendors, properties, and expense allocation templates
• Maintains vendors databases, W-9s, and prepares annual information returns (i.e., 1099s, 1096s, etc.) for respective regulatory agencies
• Reviews daily A/P exceptions and routes and approves them as needed
• Process employee expense reports and reviews supporting documents
• Performs weekly check runs and monitors ACH payments as needed
• Manage vendor communication and managing relationships for outsourced functions
• Research and resolve complex past due balances.
• Conduct training sessions for new employees on the use of Avid Exchange as necessary.

Accounts Receivable

• Posts daily cash receipts in MRI
• Monitors A/R collections and works with property accountants and property managers to ensure payments collection.
• Records billing adjustments and credits
• Work with property team members and accountants to provide tenant payment history and account status

Property Accounting

• Manage and maintain the books for multiple commercial properties for a growing real estate investment
• Ensure the sub-ledgers reconcile to the general ledger monthly
• Manage the month-end close process for assigned properties. Prepare accruals and reconcile balance sheet accounts including monthly bank reconciliations
• Produce monthly/quarterly financial statements and work with property managers to prepare property management reports and variance analysis
• Work closely with property managers to prepare property budgets and quarterly reforecasts
• Work with property managers to prepare CAM reconciliations and estimates.
• Perform and manage day-to-day accounting for assigned properties. Review posted daily cash receipts. Review invoices for proper coding. Reconcile cash accounts on a weekly basis. Review and ensure property expenses are properly recorded in a timely manner
• Provide ad hoc analysis and reports as needed

Construction Accounting

• Responsible for the processing, reviewing, tracking and general ledger posting of construction costs for multiple projects.
• Communicate with project managers, vendors, and external parties to manage invoice payment process
• Assist with lien waiver maintenance and subcontractor insurance verification.
• Provide ad hoc projects as needed

Payroll (Back up)

• Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant, and timely manner
• Manage the setup of new employees including new hire package and orientations.
• Oversee the maintenance of current employee data in Payroll System
• Compile data from payroll sources and create payroll journal entry for accounting
• Prepare and review payroll reconciliations including reconciliation of benefits billings
• Ensure the compliance of Multiple State Employment Taxes as necessary
• Reconcile with ADP Payroll Taxes (941, TWC, FUTA)
• Reconcile and process annual W-2 filings, W-2 corrections through ADP
• Prepare relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports as needed

Qualifications

• Degree in accounting or related field, preferred
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in A/P, A/R and/or general accounting
• Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills
• Reliable, team player, and able to adapt quickly and easily
• Detailed-oriented, excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and ability to prioritize
• Experience with accounting software, preferably MRI and or Avid Exchange
