More than a career, its a movement. Emancipet is the leading non-profit veterinary care provider in the United States, on a mission to make veterinary care affordable and accessible for everyone. In 2024, we will celebrate our 25th year delivering veterinary care to pets whose families cannot afford or access market sector care, and we are looking forward to a huge milestone: welcoming our 2 millionth patient visit.
Now, we are seeking a Lead Veterinarian to open our newest clinic, opening in Spring 2024. This clinic, located in Austin, Texas, is the first of its kind in the country: a non-profit, low-cost, high-cadence Dental and Surgical Center. This clinic model is the dream of Emancipet and our strategic partner, PetSmart Charities. It will be the tenth brick & mortar clinic in Emancipets network, and our fifth in the Austin area. With 230,000 patient visits across all Emancipet clinics each year, we have seen how many clients are forced to delay or decline treatment of their pets dental disease due to the inability to access timely, affordable care: this clinic will change that. Our surgical center will also provide affordable soft tissue surgeries that are prevalent yet cost prohibitive for many families (such as mass removals and cystotomies).
The Lead Veterinarian for the Emancipet Dental and Surgical Center has a rare opportunity to lead a clinically and operationally innovative team to practice dentistry and surgery in a brand new, beautiful hospital while breaking new ground in the access to veterinary care movement. The Lead Veterinarian is the clinician half of a leadership dyad, partnered with a Branch Manager who serves as the administrative half of the dyad. The position is full time at 5 days per week, with one of those days dedicated to leadership and administrative tasks. This will include frequent collaboration with the leadership of Emancipet, as this new clinic model evolves, and we build the blueprint for accessible, affordable dental and surgical care.
Emancipet measures quality using the six domains of quality medicine: Safety, Efficacy, Efficiency, Patient-Centeredness, Equity, and Timeliness, and the Lead Veterinarian will be responsible for the quality of medicine practiced at the Dental & Surgical Center, as well as the comfort of all patients. The Lead Veterinarian serves as the professional and compassionate main point of contact for medical questions and concerns for the clients and staff while providing support and training and ensuring fidelity to our systems and standard operating procedures. As a key strategic player in fulfilling the short and long-term goals of Emancipet, the Lead Veterinarian will proactively reach out to and develop professional, friendly, and mutually beneficial relationships with area veterinarians, promoting the clinics and our mission within the veterinary community.
