Elos Environmental is Hiring a NEPA Specialist Near Hammond, LA

ELOS Environmental, LLC (ELOS) is seeking a full-time NEPA Specialist. ELOS’s expertise is ensuring environmental compliance with Federal, State, and Local enforcement agencies. Our goal is to assist clients in developing an approach to environmental compliance that balances development with natural and cultural resources protection.

ELOS’s new NEPA Specialist will support and manage new and existing projects, assist with business development, management and creative problem solving. A proven track record of environmental investigation and compliance will be needed to author and review technical reports such as wetland delineation reports, mitigation plans, ongoing monitoring activities, etc. The applicant should have direct experience with NEPA documentation and cultural resource investigations as they pertain to obtaining project authorization from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the State Historic Preservation Office, and other relevant regulatory agencies. This personable team member will have direct regulatory interface assisting clients with their regulatory needs by coordinating activities with relevant agency personnel. The successful candidate must be motivated to identify, pursue, and broaden ELOS’s client base and industry presence, while providing exceptional attentiveness to our current client needs. The successful candidate must also be detail oriented, have strong oral and written communication skills, and be able to prioritize and work simultaneously on multiple projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages and conducts studies and investigations for the purpose of preparing reports (NEPA Documents for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, FEMA, HUD, National Park Service, Wetland Delineation Reports, Mitigation Banking Instruments, etc.) and applications for environmental permits and regulatory compliance in support of projects for various industries and markets
  • Collects, analyzes, manages, and reports ecological data, such as plant taxonomy, protected terrestrial and aquatic animal species, soil conditions and hydrology indicators related to establishing boundaries of protected resources
  • Provide senior level oversight, review, and interpretation of data as part of new or ongoing investigations, mitigation, or monitoring projects
  • Leads and organizes team for project field efforts
  • Communicates scientific and technical information to the project team
  • Prepares and reviews environmental reports and related materials
  • Assists public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition, and compliance
  • Develop lasting professional relationships with current clients through quality client support
  • Engage new clients through professional networking, marketing, and exceptional customer service and support
  • Provide mentoring for current and future junior scientific staff

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in [biology, ecology, rangeland sciences, wildlife management or related field]
  • 5 years experience [NEPA focus]
  • Thorough understanding of relevant Federal, State, and Local regulations
  • Knowledge of NEPA, Clean Water Act Regulatory Program, Endangered Species Act as they relate to environmental permitting
  • Solid organizational and technical writing skills
  • Effective time-management, written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Articulate with professional presence and decision making skills
  • Ability to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and applicable industry-related software packages
