POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Human Resources is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource functions for the Elmington Property Management branch.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organization's compliance
  • Maintains responsibility for organization's compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters
  • Communicates changes in the organization's personnel policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed
  • Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization's employee benefit program
  • Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the executive management, on personnel matters
  • Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters
  • Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development for the organization
  • Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

SPECIFIC EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Over 10 years of experience in property management or similar high turnover industries such as hospitality, with preference for SHRM or comparable certification.
  • Extensive legal and investigation experience, including handling EEOC cases, sexual harassment, discrimination, and personnel complaints.
  • Exhibits professional composure and interpersonal finesse, adept at diplomatically addressing challenges and maintaining accountability when required. Previous experience at the HR Director level is essential
  • Proven experience working across multiple states/regions.
  • Proficiency in developing policies and procedures, coupled with the ability to enforce accountability.
  • Collaborates with a dedicated Learning and Development (L&D) professional; while our culture is globally oriented, some familiarity with L&D practices is advantageous.
  • Required to be present in the office five days a week.
  • Thorough understanding of onboarding processes, background checks, drug screening procedures, and compliance protocols.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Frequently sit, stand and walk
  • Regularly required to talk or hear
  • Frequently required to use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Temperature in the workplace is typically moderate

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires travel up to 10% of the time.
