Location: York Community High School Position Title: High School Social Studies Department Coordinator Immediate Supervisor: World Studies Division Chair Collective Bargaining Agreement listing: Category 3A Purpose: Provide support, organization and leadership for a content area. Serve as an informed resource in best instructional practices for high school learning and teaching in that content area. Assist department members and school and district leaders in developing a collaborative culture focused on student growth. (above paragraph is existing purpose for chairs) Provide support and organization for a content area. Assist the Division Chair and department members in developing a collaborative culture focused on student growth. Essential Functions:
Assist Division Chair with setting department goals.
Facilitate department meetings in the absence of the division chair.
Assist Division Chair with determination of room assignments, course offerings, teaching assignments, and development of the master schedule.
Assist Division Chair with implementation of motivational programs for students (i.e. assemblies, contests, student of the month).
Assist Division Chair to ensure that department members know how to record student growth measures.
Assist Division Chair regarding professional learning, training, and staff development in-service training needs for teachers and other staff within the department.
Assist Division Chair with monitoring and analyzing department data as it relates to PLCs, department, building, and District goals.
Assist Division Chair with textbook/course material changes and approvals.
Assist Division Chair with the hiring, training, and development of any support staff within the department.
Department Specific Functions:
Work with Academic Literacy teachers and MTSS Coordinator to monitor entrances/exits.
