Elmet Technologies LLC is Hiring a Cost Estimator Near Euclid, OH

Elmet Technologies is a leading producer of the high-performance metals including tungsten, molybdenum, tantalum and niobium.
We are currently sourcing candidates for a Cost Estimator at our Euclid, OH facility. This person will be responsible for calculating in-house costs with a focus toward machined and/or fabricated parts made from the Tungsten & Molybdenum materials manufactured by Elmet Technologies.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and other documents to understand the scope and product requirements of each project.
  • Obtain material pricing and organize the labor & overhead costs necessary to create a new product price used by the sales department to quote business.
  • Use detailed spreadsheets and company approved formulas to calculate the projected cost of proposed projects.
  • Determine the tooling & fixturing needed to produce the parts per customer drawings.
  • Collaborate with customers, engineering, field sales and new product development to thoroughly understand the customer requirements for requested quotations.
  • Work with Purchasing to evaluate suppliers and obtain quotes for third party services and materials.
  • Partner with Engineering and Production to validate cost estimates for both new items and to confirm original estimates for repeat orders.
  • Maintain costs in Elmet’s ERP system by entering new part numbers and associated bills of material and routings.
  • Stay updated on market trends and raw material pricing fluctuations to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • 4-year technical degree or equivalent costing experience.
  • Costing experience required, preferably in manufacturing or a machine shop environment.
  • Knowledge of CAD programs and estimating software a plus.
  • Critical thinking and solid decision-making skills are required.
  • Must be organized, able to juggle multiple tasks and provide estimates in a timely manner.
  • Detail orientation is critical!
  • The ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications and technical drawings is a must.
  • Mid-level math skills including basic Algebra.
  • Comfort with spreadsheets and intermediate Excel required.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP is a plus.
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations to groups including those at higher levels.
  • Business needs and trade compliance requirements mandate that this position be held by a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.

  • Routinely communicates face-to-face, via telephone and by computer.
  • Must be able to stand for a half hour and walk up to a quarter of a mile.
