Overview:
We are a trucking company, specializing in intermodal drayage. Looking for a highly motivated individual that will progress in the company beyond this position.
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Dispatcher. As a Dispatcher, you will play a crucial role in coordinating transportation logistics and ensuring the efficient movement of goods. This is a vital position that requires strong communication skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate transportation routes for drivers, considering factors such as delivery schedules, traffic conditions, and customer requirements
- Utilize transportation management systems and GPS technology to track vehicles and monitor progress
- Communicate with drivers, providing them with necessary instructions and updates throughout their routes
- Monitor driver performance, ensuring adherence to company policies and safety regulations
- Communicate with terminals, steamship lines, and customers in a professional manner.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as supply chain and fleet management, to optimize efficiency and meet customer demands
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including driver logs, delivery schedules, and customer information
Requirements:
- Proven experience in transportation planning or dispatching is preferred
- Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS) and GPS technology
- Familiarity with freight forwarding and third-party logistics (3PL) operations
- Strong phone etiquette and communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in using phone systems and computer software applications
- Understanding of steamship lines and Seattle/Tacoma terminals
