ELKHART COUNTY GOVERNMENTAL POSITION VACANCY NOTICE

PART-TIME SUBSTITUTE JUVENILE DETENTION-YOUTH SPECIALIST I

DEPARTMENT: Elkhart County Judiciary-Court Services

HIRING RATE: Morning Shift-$16.71/hour
Evening/Midnight Shift-$17.71/hour

BENEFITS OFFERED: None

POSITION TO BE FILLED: ASAP

HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: On call position - maximum 40 hrs/week. Work days/hours will vary any day of the week including weekends and holidays.

LOCATION OF POSITION: Elkhart-Elkhart County Correctional Complex

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Within County (please complete driving page on application)

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsibilities will include assisting Juvenile Detention staff with the safety, security, care and supervision of juvenile residents at the Detention Center.

HIRING RANGE: $20.52-$22.80/hour based on education and position related experience. Longevity pay after 3 years.

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for keeping up to date on rules, regulations, and ordinances and sharing information with staff and the public. Patrol and security of park properties and facilities. Perform and manage closing of park and all park properties and facilities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Associate’s degree in criminal justice, parks and recreation, or related field or 2 years of experience related to parks or law, and Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Training as a Communication Officer or similar training
Ability to testify in legal proceedings/court
Ability to read/interpret detailed prints, sketches, layouts, specifications, and maps
Valid driver’s license
Working knowledge of community geography and police jurisdiction/boundaries
Self-motivated and enjoy working professionally with the public and as a team member with other staff
Pre-employment background check and drug screen
