PART-TIME LABORATORY ASSISTANT

DEPARTMENT: Elkhart County Judiciary-Court Services

HIRING RATE: $18.58/hour

POSITION TO BE FILLED: ASAP

HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: Up to 29 hours/week

LOCATION OF POSITION: Elkhart

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: None

JOB SUMMARY:
Collects specimens, such as urine, or saliva samples, to be analyzed by the Court Services Laboratory. Performs basic data entry tasks, prepares samples for laboratory testing and processing, collect and prepare DNA kits, assist with Live Scan fingerprinting and transports the samples to different facilities. Greet and service clients, answer inquiries related to the drug testing process, directly observe client urine specimen collections, and call donors with specimen results. Ensures that all specimen collections follow departmental policy and procedure.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• MALE applicants needed for male observation of collections
• Valid Driver’s License
• Excellent organizational and communications skills
• Proficiency with Windows based programs
• Ability to work without direct supervision and maintain confidentiality
• Pre-employment background check and drug screen
