LEGAL ASSISTANT

DEPARTMENT: Prosecuting Attorney – Child Support

HIRING RANGE: $19.70-21.89/hour based on education and position related experience. Longevity pay after 3 years.

HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

LOCATION OF POSITION: Elkhart

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: None

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing child support services, preparing pleadings and other
correspondence to ensure custodial parties receive their Court ordered support payments, and providing assistance to Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or GED with a minimum of one (1) year of related office experience
• Knowledge of Elkhart County courts system and operations, including laws and legal terminology, administrative regulations, and official court policies and practices
• Ability to apply appropriate procedures to assigned duties accordingly
• Knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and ability to type with speed and accuracy; ability to prepare pleadings, petitions, and related correspondence
• Pre-employment background check and drug screen
