Elizabeth Seton Children’s is Hiring a Music Therapist - Full Time Day Near Yonkers, NY

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

Fulfill position functions and responsibilities necessary for ethical and efficacious provision of music therapy. Plan developmentally-appropriate individual and group clinical sessions to meet resident-specific goals. Function as integral part of the Creative Arts Therapies team and neighborhood-based interdisciplinary team to promote trauma informed care and quality family-centered care.

JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Treat every resident, family member, and co-worker with dignity, respect, and courtesy.
  • Maintain active clinical caseload with approximately 20 client-contact hours per week, centralized on one neighborhood, including both group and individual sessions.
  • Communicate referrals to music therapy team and conduct initial music therapy assessments for neighborhood residents who would benefit from individualized music therapy services.
  • Assure accurate physician’s orders for all residents on caseload, and consistently fulfill orders.
  • Conduct individual and group clinical sessions, with child-centered, measurable goals.
  • Participate in Plan of Care meetings when applicable to discuss clinical goals and progress.
  • Maintain standard data-gathering techniques during all phases of clinical processing including assessment, therapy and evaluation.
  • Adhere to established clinical documentation standards in a timely fashion.
  • Conduct assigned initial screenings of new admissions to assigned neighborhood to determine potential psychosocial, mental and behavioral health needs. Present findings and recommendations for services to CAT and child life teams. Participate in ongoing care planning to provide appropriate psychosocial care.
  • Collaborate with transdisciplinary team to provide highest quality of care.
  • Participate in the supervision and training of music therapy practicum students and interns as designated by the Music Therapy Clinical Training Coordinator.
  • Represent the Creative Arts Therapies department on one assigned neighborhood by attending clinical status, maintaining transdisciplinary communication, and participating in neighborhood-based initiatives and special events.
  • Participate in providing music therapy orientation, in-services and educational opportunities for ESCC staff.
  • Actively participate in pertinent ESCC committees or teams as appropriate (e.g., palliative care committee, trauma informed care/family center care committee, reflections committee, center-related groups).
  • Facilitate bereavement music therapy services to provide emotional support for staff and family members following the death of a resident.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of department-led special events and projects (e.g., music therapy symposia and intensive courses, music for special celebrations and masses, etc.).
  • Comply with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc. including requirements for board certification, as appropriate.
  • Adhere to AMTA Standards of Clinical Practice and Code of Ethics.
  • Engage in on-going continuing education opportunities consistent with professional standard requirements.
  • Engage in on-going clinical and administrative supervision, through internal (and/or external means, if needed).
  • Clinically represent the department and center through external professional presentations, publications, and/or committee work.
  • Maintain departmental supplies and demonstrate appropriate care of departmental materials.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in music therapy or the equivalent
  • Board certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC)
  • New York State license in Creative Arts Therapy (LCAT) or LCAT (LCAT-LP)-eligible

Experience

  • Experience children with medically complex conditions preferred
  • Two years clinical experience in music therapy preferred

Salary Range:

$60,000.00/Yr. to $66,000.00/Yr.
