Elizabeth Layton Center is looking for an experienced and dependable SUD Clinician for our ACT Team. This is a full-time Monday - Friday position located in Ottawa, KS. EOE

SUMMARY: The Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team provides non-traditional community based mental health treatment to promote the recovery and community integration of adults with serious mental illnesses and co-occurring substance use and/or serious co-occurring physical health conditions. These adults reside within the Elizabeth Layton catchment area, and the overall goal of the team is to reduce the use of ERs, inpatient hospital stays, and other harmful behaviors.
The ACT Team SUD Clinician is responsible for providing mental health and/or alcohol and drug treatment services (individual, family, and group therapy) within the scope of their license and provide consultation services to individuals and organizations in the community. The ACT Team SUD Clinician reports to the ACT Team Coordinator.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides assessments and direct treatment services to clients, with the majority of these services occurring in a community setting.
  • Work with clients to conduct intake assessments, formulate a treatment plan, conducts a variety of treatment approaches including group, individual, and family therapy.
  • Confers with other staff and agency representatives as appropriate.
  • Is able to adopt the “non-four walls” philosophy of treatment and advocates for this whenever necessary.
  • Participates in on-call consultation in periods of staff vacancies and emergent situations when backup resources are not available or have been exhausted.
  • Ensures that all services are delivered and documented in a manner that meets requirements.
  • Ensures that outcome measurements instruments and other documentation of evidence-based practices are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work under pressure and remain positive and flexible in attitude.
  • Exhibits sounds judgment in routine and crisis situations.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with all levels of staff across the agency.
  • Participate in agency staff meetings.
  • Regularly meet assigned performance expectations.
  • Maintain all clinical documentation in an accurate and timely fashion in compliance with all Federal, State, and ELC guidelines.
  • Exhibit and promote decisions/behavior consistent with ELC’s established mission and complies with ELC policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Possesses minimum academic credentials: Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC), Licensed Masters Addictions Counselor (LMAC), or Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC) in the State of Kansas AND licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed masters Level Psychologist (LMLP), Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist (LCP), Licensed Masters Level Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist (LCMFT), or Licensed Psychologist (LP) in the State of Kansas

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

  • Possess demonstrated interpersonal skills; ability to work with the severely and persistently mentally ill population; and the ability to react effectively in a wide variety of human service situations
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, community agencies, and consumers.
  • Communicates directly and effectively in a cooperative manner.
  • Familiarity with basic ethical considerations in the mental health field.
  • Ability to recognize and be sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences.
  • Ability to perform major job responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
