The Division of Student Affairs fosters student growth and development. The Division of Student Affairs aids, directs, and informs students about services and programs that will expand students’ educational experiences and prepare them for diverse lives in local and global communities.

  • The Division of Student Affairs is responsible for many of the outside the classroom / off-campus aspects of student life at ECSU , including student engagement and leadership;
  • career services; student disability services, residential life; student activities; community standards; special programs and services;

student health& counseling services.

Description of Work

The Title IX Investigator / Case Manager is responsible for investigating complaints of sexual discrimination and sexual misconduct as assigned by Title IX Coordinator, responding to and working with the Title IX Coordinator in seeking resolution to allegations of discrimination and sexual harassment / misconduct;

and training student peer educators to facilitate discussions with other students on sexual harassment. The Title IX Investigator / Case Manager will serve as the deputy Title IX Coordinator in the absence of the Title IX Coordinator.

This position also supports student learning and development by assuming a primary role in providing support and coordinated care for students referred to the Office of the Dean of Students.

Referrals to the Office of the Dean of Students are typically generated by faculty, staff, students, parents, and other concerned parties.

Such referrals may include health issues, academic difficulties, mental health concerns, and behavioral problems to include substance abuse, or other related issues that have or may have an impact on their college experience and success.

This position manages student referral cases and works closely with university departments and individuals to address referrals.

The position requires 40hours work per week and may require evening and / or weekend work.

Competencies / Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position

Possess strong verbal and written communication skills and experience in and awareness of the sensitivity required when interacting with, supervising, and addressing the needs of a diverse community.

Demonstrate the ability to analyze issues, interview witnesses and parties, write investigative reports, and organize trainings;

possess strong time management and organizational skills.

Possess the ability to exercise sound judgment.

Possess a working knowledge of the FERPA , Clery Act, HIPPA , Title II, Title IX, VAWA , and other applicable federal / state guidelines and laws that affect the practice of student support and advocacy.

Possess a working knowledge of Maxient is highly desired.

Possess excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; the ability to analyze complex issues and effectively plan and organize work.

Demonstrate the proven ability to foster collaborative relationships across campus, work well with parents / families, and contribute to creating a distinctive residential program.

Possess the ability to multi-task in a complex, fast-paced environment and strong organizational skills.

Minimum Training and Experience

Possess a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Law, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Social Work or related degree and 1-3 years’ experience in Title IX compliance / investigation, working with individuals with mental health and / or substance abuse needs or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
