The Mechanical Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining all Elite Spice assets. This includes all machinery used in the manufacturing process, the building structures and utilities.
Primary responsibilities are mechanical in nature but may span other industrial trades including but not limited to Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, and Mobile equipment. Tasks performed on equipment include troubleshooting, design, inspection, modifications, rebuild/repair/replacement and preventative measures.
In the process of performing their trade skills, the technician is required to communicate and document Workflow both verbally and in writing. This includes creating work requests for identified deficiencies, completing/processing work orders as directed, documenting the specific tasks performed, and recording parts usage. Notification of activities to supervision before, during, and after the task is essential.
A Mechanical Technician may be placed in one of three levels, M1, M2, and M3, depending on several skill and performance factors. These include but are not limited to Hard Skills (trade knowledge), Leadership, Quality of Workmanship, Productivity, and Soft Skills(motivation, work habits, communication). M1 is entry level for all new hires with mechanical training and must have basic mechanical knowledge and tools. They must have an exceptional understanding of all production equipment with solid performance in the majority of categories before being considered M2. The M3 level technician is expected to perform trade calculations, detail drawings, and develop contractor scopes when outside trades are required. They will be required to give guidance and direction to other technicians or operators assigned to them. Although not limited to an M3, this level would be expected proficient with computers in order to investigate proper OEM equipment maintenance and design specifications. Generally, an M3 technician would be consistently strong in the majority of skill and performance factors.
All technicians are responsible for keeping their work, tool storage, and assigned shop areas in a clean (sanitary when necessary) and organized manner. The minimum general requirements for all levels include following, enforcing, and promulgating food safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices. Additionally all technicians are expected to have a working knowledge of all OSHA compliance criteria.
