Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Certified Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing medical procedures and services. Your role will be crucial in ensuring timely reimbursement for medical services provided.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records to determine appropriate codes for billing
- Enter coded data into billing software systems
- Submit clean claims to insurance companies electronically
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve any billing issues or discrepancies
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records
- Assist with medical collections as needed
-Attend bi-weekly AR meetings to review accounts for possible assignments/adjustment/collections/billing statements.
-Answer billing related inquiries from patients, other staff, or insurance companies.
-Post, allocate, and reconcile insurance and patient payments.
-Processes insurance appeals
-Processes insurance eligibility
-Performs various collection actions to include: contacting patients by phone; correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
-Processes payments from insurance companies and preparing reconciliation reports.
-Preparing, reviewing, and sending patient statements.
-Processes patient reimbursements.
-Processes medical records and billing affidavits
-other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting, ideally a surgical office.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, ICD-10, ICD-10 coding systems, CPT, surgical modifiers, medical necessity and billing guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of medical billing processes and procedures to include billing Medicare, Medicaid, commercial plans, and Workers Compensation.
- Familiarity with medical records management and documentation
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing practices
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

-Spanish Speaker (preferred)
