The Engineering Intern supports Elevate’s programs by assisting one or more experienced engineers and various program teams across the organization as needed. The Engineering Intern learns technical and engineering skills, shadows energy assessments, and performs tasks that support larger projects while experiencing the day-to-day workings of energy engineering. The position collaborates closely with other Elevate staff on projects related to improving building performance, advancing energy efficiency, and consulting on sustainability measures. Additional projects involve electrification, solar, certifications, energy efficiency assessments and reporting, and the development of engineering tools.
The Engineering Intern reports to the Manager, Engineering. This position is based in Chicago, Illinois and is currently hybrid remote.
ResponsibilitiesInternships at Elevate are paid positions, for current college or graduate students, or recent college graduates. The usual time commitment is for this internship is 12 months, 15-25 hours/week. The Engineering Intern is paid $20/hour. The Engineering Intern will work remotely but may be required to attend on-site fieldwork.
If interns are handling confidential data, they will be asked to comply with security policies, as required. In addition, all policy interns are asked to comply with a confidentiality and nondisclosure agreement.
