Overview

Element has a unique opportunity for a Machine Shop Supervisor to join our team. You will organize and direct the Sectioning and Machining associates in processing and delivering tests in accordance with Element Materials Technology goals, quality programs, and testing procedures. Keep the Element Materials Technology Management teams informed about events as they impact operational plans. Lead team associates in safely and accurately sectioning and machining test specimens according to specifications, blueprints, or customer drawings.

Salary: $32/hr-$40/hr

Responsibilities

• Supervise machine shop personnel in day-to-day operations
• Manage initiatives for the department set forth and in conjunction with location safety strategy, quality requirements work instructions and processes
• Under the direction of the Machine Shop Manager, assist in the efficient operation and growth of the assigned department
• Operate machinery in support of laboratory requirements as needed
• Train and support new and existing employees in the proper operation of both manual and CNC machinery
• Ensure safety of personnel and equipment throughout the facility
• Provide professional and timely customer service and status updates to both internal and external customers
• Ensure customer satisfaction through daily interaction with machinists and execution of operational jobs

This is a fast-paced environment, and we need someone who is proactive, self-motivated and a team player. The person for this role will be a specialist in their field, respected by all who they work with, keen to learn and enthusiastic in the face of challenge. You need:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role in an industry similar or related to the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) industry
• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Working knowledge of machine shop safety
• Proven ability to read, understand and interpret sample prints and CNC programs
