Electronic Power Designs is Hiring a Fabrication Planner Near Houston, TX

The role of the Fabrication Planner is to guarantee all fabricated parts are available for the manufacturing team by the required due date, including both bus-bar and sheet-metal. The Fabrication Planner must coordinate with Supply Chain Management, Project Management, manufacturing planning and the fabrication team to ensure all raw material, information and resources are readily available to complete the fabrication process while adhering to the master production schedule. The Fabrication Planner is responsible for creating and maintaining sub-contract jobs of 3rd party suppliers for raw and fabricated material that are required per the engineers’ designs and customers’ requests. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, tracking and ensuring updates be carried out to completion within a timely manner; reporting statuses of parts to supervisor/managers; and coordinating with departments to resolve any issues or bottlenecks in the fabrication-to-assembly process.

Job Description:

1. Key Duties:

Daily

a. Attend daily Production meetings to gather status updates on all part requirements for manufacturing and various other departments

i. Communicate critical updates or changes to the rest of the organization in regard to part status changes

ii. Take note of urgent tasks that will need to be completed by the fabrication team and supply chain planning team

b. Create work orders for all fabricated material (Sheet metal / copper)

i. System generated demand

ii. Kanban Material

iii. Urgent parts

c. Provide inventory, fabrication, purchasing and manufacturing with part priorities in accordance with the daily/ weekly shipments and the master production schedule

d. Support/supplement both bus-bar and sheet-metal planners as needed or in the absence of either planner

i. Assist in creation of packing slips

ii. Create and print work orders for fabrication

iii. Rearrange and edit planners’ departmental schedule

e. Coordinate with the quality team to process nonconformance parts

i. Create subcontract jobs with exact scrutiny to give supplier and purchasing essential instructions for the material

ii. Provide purchasing with the correct paperwork to purchase the service from a vendor

iii. Coordinate with quality to complete discrepant material report and issue the nonconformance to the subcontract job

f. Provide accurate pricing for powder coating to the purchasing department from the sheet-metal master parts list

Weekly

a. Complete bus and sheet-metal shortages

i. Compare demand versus stock calculations on fabricated parts for a two-week working period.

ii. Provide each planner with their respective shortages to process

iii. Process updates and nonconformance parts from jobs that have already started/completed the initial plan

iv. Communicate shortages and paperwork to the necessary departments to confirm traceability is distinguishable

Continuously

a. Support sheet- metal and bus-bar planners in day to day tasks

b. Communicate risks and issues to the necessary departments as it affects the fabrication schedules and manufacturing master schedule

c. Clearly communicate established due dates and expectations to the fabrication department, the fabrication inventory and the department buyer

d. Advise on expediting needs for parts

e. Advise on interrupting the current programs on the fabrication machines

f. Advise on fulfilling requirements of priority jobs over non-priority jobs

g. Assist in devising contingency plan for risks and challenges as they arise.

2. Key Responsibilities:

a. Assist supply chain planning in preparing reports and gathering any required data.

b. Regularly monitor project schedule for any changes and react accordingly by communicating with appropriate people

c. Create work orders for fabricated parts

d. Ensure that proper ERP transactions are happening in reasonable time. Inquire with appropriate people when this process does not happen.

e. Constant observation of departments and their processes. Assist and provide advice on how to expedite procedures.

f. Develop strong working relationships with department heads and leads in order to ensure smooth work flow.

g. Continuously seek methods to improve current practices and procedures.

h. Other duties as assigned.

3. Key Qualifications:

a. A list of required Abilities

i. Ability to accurately & completely fill out necessary paperwork according to established standards.

ii. Ability to perform math in various units of measure using fractions, decimals, and or whole units

iii. Ability to understand instructions in written, oral or schedule format, and perform duties accordingly

iv. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

v. Ability to communicate orally and in writing with a variety of individuals and to manage difficult situations

vi. Must have a basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

vii. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationship with other employees

viii. Ability to pay close attention to detail and accurately perform daily job duties

ix. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
