Elantas PDG Inc. is Hiring a Customer Account Specialist Near St. Louis, MO

ELANTAS PDG (EPDG) is looking for a Purchasing Specialist at our St. Louis, MO facility.

Position Summary

Provides administrative support in the sale of the organization’s products and/or services in domestic and foreign markets. Reviews incoming orders, order entry of new orders and changes to existing orders. Reviews and enters information for the Customer Order Support Process. Performs administrative assignments including telephone support, data entry, inbound/outbound communication with customers, expediting of products/information.

Position Responsibilities

  • Entry of Customer Sales Orders and order changes to include price quotations, preparation and follow up on purchase orders.
  • Acknowledges orders from Customers and/or Agents. Communicates with customers of ship dates and/or ship date changes. Maintains open order changes.
  • Uses manufacturing resource software to retrieve customer information, determine inventory balances, order status, projected delivery dates, place orders and supplies information regarding location of distributor.
  • Entry of requests for Return Material Authorizations and Quality Notifications.
  • Provides carrier information for returned material.
  • Review / Prepare Letters of Credit for acceptance.
  • Generates and prepares export documentation in compliance with established procedures and guidelines. Submit to freight forwarders and sending of final copies to customers, distributors, and agents.
  • Prepare IMDG certificates for hazardous ocean shipments.
  • Works in conjunction with manager to in the maintenance of Standard and Customer Specific Inventory Descriptions.
  • Works in conjunction with manager to maintain Customer and Product Special messaging.
  • Investigates and responds to inquiries regarding the status of orders, the organization’s products and/or services, pricing, delivery dates, adjustments to bills/orders, etc., from customers and/or internal personnel. Investigates and resolves a variety of problems.
  • Coordinates with appropriate party or responds to customer requests for product documentation or materials. Example: additional copies of COA’s, SDS’, Labels, etc.
  • Position interacts with Customers, Distributors and Salespeople. Coordinates with Production Control staff regarding order status and scheduled shipment dates. Verifies customer credit status with the Accounting department. Additionally, interacts regularly with Shipping and Technical Service.
  • Work closely with freight forwarders to coordinate FCL/LCL ocean and air shipments of hazardous and non-hazardous material. · Obtain sailing / flight schedules and provide details to customers.
  • Obtain and compare freight quotes for CIF and Prepaid shipments. Monitor freight invoices with freight quotes to verify charges before submitting for payment.
  • Supports internal and external customers in the request for freight quotes.
  • Administer freight charges to orders and related internal cost centers.
  • Communicates with carriers and external warehouse personnel via phone and email.
  • Investigates discrepancies in shipping status or product specifications and makes necessary adjustments. Transmits or releases processed orders for packing and shipping, noting special packing requirements.
  • Back up other Account Specialists.
  • Maintain customer scorecards and various reports. · Continually review procedures and advise Customer Relations Manager of appropriate document changes.
  • Some travel to attend various training as required.
  • May be required to travel to customer sites.
  • Incumbents rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assignments. Duties and tasks are varied and complex, are performed under general supervision, and typically require originality and/or ingenuity to accomplish. May consult with higher levels of management or technical support on the more difficult and complex phases of work.
  • Assist the organization to create a safe and healthy working environment by working safely, using equipment provided and following instructions given for health and safety purposes and immediately reporting any unsafe working practices or hazardous working conditions.

What experience are we looking for?

  • High school diploma or G.E.D required.
  • Previous Export experience a plus.
  • Must have CFR 49 / IATA / IMDG certification or able to obtain the certification within 12 months.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in word-processing and spreadsheet applications required (MS Word & Excel preferred). Familiarity with manufacturing software applications preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels in the organization required. Excellent telephone sales ability to respond to customer inquiries in a calm, professional, and courteous manner, yet always keeping Company policies in mind.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask and work under limited supervision required.
  • Accurate typing and data entry skills required.
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills required.
