We provide standard magnetic cores and accessories as an authorized distributor of several product lines and through our manufacturing services department we machine custom products to meet customer specifications.
Our Operations Manager will be responsible for managing shop production activities across multiple shifts and departments, as well as shipping & receiving activities, to produce and ship products that meet established quality, customer service, safety, innovation and cost metrics consistent with schedules and policies. The Operations Manager will be a key stakeholder in the deployment of the 5S culture, utilizing processes, tools and strategies across all areas; directs process improvements, sets goals to continuously improve performance; ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies and organizations.
Job Responsibilities:
· Oversees, plans, and directs production loading in order to meet the organization’s commitments to customers.
· Directly supervises all direct labor working in the machining operation including CNC programmers, group leaders, machining operators and maintenance mechanics.
· Directly supervises all Quality employees, the Warehouse Manager, the California Warehouse & Building-Grounds Supervisor, and the Customer-Quality Control Liaison.
· Sets priorities for all work orders based on customer requirements and commitments with input from Sales while taking into account on-hold customers, customer importance, andefficiencies of machining.
· Takes a proactive, first-line role in working with Sales to disseminate missed or early schedule completion information utilizing shop and sales order backlog reports.
· Works closely with Applications and Process engineering to produce product in the most efficient method possible reviewing and implementing process changes as required.
· Reviews and approves all manufacturing instructions (MI’s) from a production feasibility point-of-view making recommendations for change as required.
· Oversees the machining operation to ensure all quality standards are met and exceeded and all safety, quality and companypolicies and procedures are followed.
· Work with the group leader to assign employees to various machines and work orders based on skills and delivery requirements.
· Recommends overtime, cutbacks, personnel additions/deletions and changes required to effectively meet the customers’ requirements as well as the organization’s forecast, budget and performance goals.
· Schedules preventative maintenance (PM’s) on machines and equipment per released shop order requirements.
· Recommends schedules and provides training to subordinates as required.
· Perform employee evaluations on time and make decisions on merit increases, promotions or disciplinary actions.
· Train, mentor, coach, motivate direct reports
· Establish budget and strategies to meet company & sales objectives, lead times for various product lines, performance goals for departments, and scheduling and shop loading rules.
· Provides recommendations for equipment, personnel and/or process changes to improve efficiency, reduce lead-times and/or decrease costs.
· Maintain a positive working environment and encourage participation and feedback from subordinates and peers.
· Assist in plant tours and quality audits from customers and suppliers.
· Perform other duties as assigned in order to meet organizational and customer objectives and business conditions.

Qualifications:
Skills & Abilities:
· Working knowledge of policies, systems and procedures related to the machining services function.
· Working knowledge of engineering principles
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Proven ability to work well with subordinates, peers, managers, and in some cases, customers.
· Strong working knowledge of the various machining processes used to product magnetic products including machinery, tooling and diamond wheels.
· Strong working knowledge of building, grounds, and equipment maintenance.
· Must possess solid analytical skills in forecasting and anticipating production needs and capabilities
· Must be able to prioritize workload in a multitasking environment
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
Education & Experience:
· Experience in a progressive machining operator/machinist role including CNC programming experience, preferred
· A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a supervisory role, preferable in a manufacturing environment.
· Associates degree in operations management, business management, mechanical engineering, or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
· Additional relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements

Salary Range:
$100,000 - $158,000 per year, based on education, skills and experience
All candidates will be required to complete a simple math assessment skill test as part of the interview process.
