We are currently seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief for a full-time position in our St. Louis, Missouri office. Job Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Survey Manager and Project Surveyor, this position is responsible for leading the daily operation of a field crew within the Survey Department. Project emphasis is transportation engineering design for both public and private sectors which range in scope from small to multimillion-dollar designs. Services are provided to a wide range of clients that include state DOTs and other governmental agencies - municipal, county and state.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive:

• Job duties may require both field work and office work
• Perform various surveying tasks (e.g., ALTA, boundary, topographic surveys, and construction layout)
• Organize field notes and perform calculations in the field
• Read and comprehend property descriptions
• Travel is required (approximately 20%)

Knowledge/Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

• Ten (10) years civil surveying experience with five (5) years as a Survey Crew Chief
• High school diploma
• Associate or bachelor's degree with relevant coursework preferred
• Strong experience with route surveys required
• Experience operating robotic total stations
• Experience working with GNSS receivers, data collectors, RTK GPS units required
• Experience with Trimble equipment
• The ability to understand the ALTA/NSPS standards
• The ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner
• CST and LSIT certifications preferred
• Computer and technical skills required
• Attention to detail and strong math skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with leadership and coworkers
• Valid Driver's License

Physical Qualifications:

• Requires strong physical ability to walk long distances through a variety of terrains, lift and transport up to 50 pounds, and stand for extended periods
• Demonstrate flexibility and/or agility, as well as hand dexterity to operate equipment/tools
• Willingness to endure any/all weather conditions, as well as possible exposures to poisonous plants, insects, snakes, and animals
• Ability to commute and/or travel long distances and/or stay overnight at project locations for extended time
