EDKEY is Hiring a Speech Language Path Assistant Near Maricopa, AZ

POSITION OVERVIEW

About the Position

 Administer direct and indirect intervention and goal support for students to assist a speech-language pathologist in the provision of services for students with speech-language disorders. The work is guided by a task-by-task plan written by the supervising speech-language pathologist. The assistant’s work with students is under direct supervision by the speech-language pathologist; however, the assistant is expected to recognize when changes in a student’s needs require assistance from the supervising speech-language pathologist.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology Assistant program from a certified college or university

Experience

  • one or more years of working with children. 

Other Requirements

  • Must posses or have the ability to posses a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card by the time of hire
  • Must possess or have the ability to possess a valid Speech Language Pathologist Assistant license by the time of hire

ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

  • Assist in assessing student communication skills (articulation, language, fluency, and voice) for the purpose of determining speech and language deficits and developing recommendations.
  • Meet regularly with Licensed Speech Therapist based on the Arizona Department of Health Services level of performance: entry, intermediate, and advanced and experience.
  • Attend department and multidisciplinary team meetings with the Speech Language Pathologist to provide and receive information.
  • Confer with the classroom teacher to provide information, implement plans for services, and/or make recommendations as directed by the supervising Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Maintain files and/or records to provide written support and required documentation.
  • Perform record keeping and basic clerical functions to support the supervising Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Prepare materials and follow speech-language lessons appropriate for individuals or small groups.
  • Provide direct instructional services to students under the supervision of the Speech Language Pathologist to implement the goals for remediation of speech language deficits.
  • Attend in-service training for continued professional development.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, crouch, bend, walking up and down stairs/ramps, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
